    own Council resumed its regular meeting scheduleon uesday, September 13th in Council Chambers.In the absence o Mayor Orr, Deputy Mayor Wedge-

    wood chaired the meeting with Councillors Skatch, Luk-

    er, Saler and aylor in attendance.Council accepted, with regret, the written resigna-

    tion o Councillor Diane Hartley who has recently moved

    out o the community. Her resignation has created avacancy around the Council table and as a result, Coun-cil passed a resolution to direct the owns Senior Elec-

    tion Of cial to hold a by-election. Nominations orCouncillor are now being accepted and although no datehas yet been set, the by-election is expected to be held

    beore year-end. Councillor Hartley was rst elected toown Council in 2002 and in addition to her council-related duties, Diane was also a dedicated volunteer in

    the community.In November 2010, Council sent a letter to the pro-

    vincial government requesting the installation o a light

    at the intersection o 9th Ave. S.W. and Highway #10. Teown has recently received a reply in the orm o a let-ter, rom Manitoba Inrasturucture and ransportation,

    indicating that their request will be met and lighting will

    be installed at the intersection in the near uture. Teproject is being totally unded by the Province.

    Members o Council agreed to cover the rental costo the Community Conerence Centre or the 2nd An-nual Community Christmas Dinner being planned or

    December 25th.Te own will send a letter o support to the Assini-

    boine Regional Health Authority or the installation o a

    dialysis unit at the Minnedosa Health Centre, as request-ed by a local resident.CAO Jenkins inormed Council that administration

    is continuing to collect inormation on security sta andcamera options as requested at an earlier Council meet-ing. Once this inormation is received, it will be orward-

    ed to the Protective Services subcommittee o Councilor review and recommendations.

    the memory o a young girl who lost her battle withcancer this July. Tey were

    close amily riends o oursso I decided to dedicate this

    ride to her, im said. Do-nations will be put towardsSmiles or Sam, a oun-

    dation established in the young girls honour to aidnancially disadvantaged

    children suering romcancer. From Minnedo-

    sa, the Cycle 4 Lie teamheaded to Neepawa andplanned to arrive in Winni-

    peg Tursday. Tey hopeto complete their journeyby October 23rd.
