From dawn till dusk by Tetiana Otruta The shawlette is knit sideways from end to end in one piece, including border and edging. Shawlette size: customizable. Sample shawlette size 67" (170 cm) wingspan, 16" (40 cm) deep after blocking. Yarn: 418 yds/382 m of Aade Lõng Artistic 8/2 (Fingering, 100 gr - 437 yds/400m) Needle: US 6 - 4.0 mm A variety of yarn fibers, weights and needle sizes are suitable. Shawlette is easy customizable by adding or taking away pattern repeats. To make shawlette longer repeat Chart C and Chart E more times To make shawlette wider repeat Chart B and Chart F more times but repeat Chart C and Chart E less times. Pattern notes: Read the charts from bottom to top. Begin the charts from the right to left. Knit odd (RS) rows as charted. In all even (WS) rows knit edge stitches at the beginning and the end of the row, purl remaining stitches. Cast-on 3 sts. Row 1: Knit first st in row into the front and back loop, k1, knit last sts in row into the front and back loop (5 sts). Work Chart F 2 times (rows 1-16)Work Chart G once (rows 1-32) Cut yarn and thread through remain st with tapestry needle or crochet hook. Finishing and blocking:Weave in yarn ends; trim after blocking. Soak shawl in lukewarm water (with soap for fiber if desired) for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and roll in towel to get rid of excess water. Pin out on clean sheet or blocking board. Let dry and unpin only when dry.
