OBJECTIVESOBJECTIVESOBJECTIVES
From the baby’s first coo, to school and adulthood, speech
perception can be influenced by medical conditions and
treatments, general development, and use of amplification.
With the advanced tools and technology available, clinical
audiologists and speech-language pathologists are required to
have a more in-depth knowledge of genetic and syndromic
anomalies, ototoxic and otoprotective agents, as well as (re)
habilitative strategies.
Our speakers will give a unique perspective on the medical
and developmental impact on speech perception and
assessment. Amplification strategies to facilitate effective
integration of speech perception into the rehabilitation process
will be addressed. In addition, unique case histories will be
presented. Throughout, the influence of perception from the
lips to the brain will be infused into the discussion.
