DESK Of Ms. Gibson

10/26/2018 Dear SMS Family,

It has been another beautiful week here at St. Michael’s. We have managed to have a little less rain which has helped our after school sports program a great deal.

Our Talent Show was a huge success. Our students demonstrated a great deal of courage to perform for such a large audience. We have some talented students that is for sure. A huge thank-you to our Student Council and our Student Affairs Dean, Ana Venta for helping to organize and run this event. Your efforts are commended.

This week our teachers had the opportunity to learn and grow together. On Thursday morning we enjoyed a workshop entitled,

“Maestros Conscientes” given by Leticia Valero. This workshop fits nicely with our work on creating a positive culture in our school by supporting students as they change behavior. Then in the afternoon, the teachers were involved in learning more about the Design Thinking Principles and how to apply them to their classrooms. The da concluded with a session on Emergency Procedures given by Jose Aira. It was a great day together. Professional development of our staff is crucial and necessary for our school to grow and move forward.

We continue to work on our safety measures here at SMS. A reminder that we now have our new Identification Card printer here and Magdalena Savinon is available to

take pictures and print cards on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 until 10:00 a.m. You may also choose to email your photos and information to her at [email protected]. A huge thank you to our parent community for your cooperation in showing your identification whenever you come on the school campus in the morning and after school. We appreciate your help and support as it takes all of us to ensure our students are safe and secure.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.

Frequently Asked Questions ,

We understand that from time to time our parent community may have questions that they would like answers to. Our Leadership Team, our teachers and our support staff are always willing to help whenever you have anything you are wondering about. Working with our Parent Association we have been made aware of a list of some questions that seem to come up frequently. In this segment of my blog, I will answer five of those questions at a time. This set of questions was gone through with our Delegates, Sub-Delegates and our Coordinators of each homeroom last week. We hope these questions and answers are useful to you.

Estimada Familia SMS:

De nuevo hemos pasado otra

hermosa semana aquí en St.

Michael’s. Por suerte tuvimos

menos lluvia, algo que ha

favorecido nuestro programa

vespertino de deportes.

Nuestro Talent Show fue todo un

éxito. Los estudiantes

demostraron mucha valentia y

compostura ante un público tan

grande. ¡Cuánto talento, qué

orgullo! Muchas gracias a nuestro

Consejo Estudiantil y a nuestra

Encargada de Asuntos

Estudiantiles, Ana Venta, por

ayudar a organizar y manejar el

evento. Mis felicitaciones sinceras.

Esta semana nuestros profesores

tuvieron la oportunidad de

aprender y crecer juntos. La

mañana del jueves disfrutamos del

taller “Maestros Conscientes”

impartido por Leticia Valero. Este

taller complementó el trabajo que

hemos estado realizando al crear

una cultura positiva en el colegio,

brindando todo nuestro apoyo a los

estudiantes, mientras modifican su

comportamiento. Luego en la

tarde, los profesores se

involucraron con los Principios en

el diseño del Pensamiento y cómo

aplicarlo en sus aulas. El día

concluyó con una sesión sobre

Procedimientos en Situaciones de

Emergencia impartido por José

Aira. Pasamos un gran día todos

juntos. El desarrollo profesional de

nuestro personal es crucial y

necesario para el crecimiento del

colegio.

Continuamos trabajando en

nuestras medidas de seguridad

aquí en SMS. Les recordamos que

ya tenemos disponible nuestra

impresora de carnets de

identificación y Magdalena Saviñón

estará a su orden para tomar fotos

e imprimir carnets los martes y

jueves de 8:00 a 10:00 a.m.

Recuerden que también pueden

enviarle sus fotos e información al

correo electrónico

[email protected]. Para

obtener sus carnets Muchas

gracias a nuestra comunidad de

padres por su cooperación

mostrando su identificación cada

vez que ingresan al campus del

colegio.

Page 5: From theDESK - Saint Michael's School...From theDESK Of Ms. Gibson 10/26/2018 Dear SMS Family, “Maestros Conscientes” given by It has been another beautiful week here at St. Michael’s

¿A quién?
