THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF KIDMAN PARK INC.
PO BOX 83, BROOKLYN PARK SA 5032
From the Bulletin Editor:I hope you like the new look bulletin.
The feedback to date has all been positive. I have received some suggestions and will continue to strive to make it an enjoyable read, not just a list of Duties.
One suggestion is to include a list of Members and partners names and contact phone numbers -‐ to make it easier for members to contact other
members e.g. to arrange a swap on the Duty Roster.
Another suggestions is to include Members and Partners occupations.
This would be particularly helpful for new members who may be unaware of other members occupations and may help direct business to other members.
If you do not want your name and /or phone number in the Bulletin please let me know.
If you have something to contribute, it maybe a photo, please email it to me.

From the President:
President Ron addressed the meeting and stressed the importance and urgency in finding a nomination for both the President Elect and Vice President for 2015/2016. The Vice President would become President in 2016/2017.
Whilst the club currently boasts a healthy number of members many have already had the honor of being Club President and others are reluctant to step forward. It may be we have different ideas or perceptions of the President’s role.
This may be clarified if Members discussed their perception of the role with other members and importantly with their partners and gain their support.
The fall back position i.e. Ron would continue as President may be an immediate fix but would not reflect well on the future of the club.

Fellowship -‐ Guess who’s coming to DinnerMay 2nd 2015
Members may have heard the expression
“What happens on tour stays on Tour”The phrase is frequently used (mostly) by Males on interstate sporting trips
and means that all the exploits during the tour must be kept strictly confidential, never to be discussed with
anyone outside the group.
I’m sure there’ll be some little anecdotes from “Guess who’s coming to
Dinner” that could be shared with the Club at large.
I looking forward to receiving some stories or pictures to publish in upcoming Bulletins -‐ to show how
everyone celebrated.

Last week’s Guest Speaker -‐
Kevin Tiggemann
Club Member and Past President Kevin delivered his “Kev’s check up from the Neck Up” presentation.
The presentation is a collection of thoughts and observations gathered over Kevin’s journey through his Business and personal life.
Kevin spoke of the different facets of the human psyche, the need to be prepared to constantly adapt to change, the importance of good health and a positive outlook.
Kevin let us all know he likes to take a glass of water to bed and clear the head and let the ideas flow.
He is frequently woken very early in the morning as new ideas flood into his head.
During Question Time one wag remarked he also woke very early most mornings, but it was a call of nature that woke him, not bright ideas.
Look on the bright side
Invest the little extra effort it takes to be positive and optimistic - it pays off over and over again.

Club News:
Police Clearance for Rotary Volunteers.President Ron advised the members of the need for Members and Members Partners to have a Police Clearance when volunteering for events particularly those involving children.
National Police Check Application forms were distributed to all in attendance with the suggestion that Members and Partners complete the application if they did not already have a current Police Clearance.Contact President Ron If you weren’t at the meeting and need an application form for your partner or yourself.
The Application is FREE OF CHARGE to Rotarians and Partners.
It was also suggested that the Applications be lodged as soon as possible as it currently takes a considerable amount of time due to the high numbers of applications being processed.
Thank You from RYPEN attendees.Thank you cards were received from Walid and Ehsanullah Khadin Hussain, the two students the Club Sponsored to attend the recent RYPEN camp.
Community -‐Back Pack for Kids:
The Club has purchased more Backpacks for the “Back Packs for Kids” project as we aim to meet the criteria for the District Grant.
More details will be provided later.
Community -‐
New Home for Bookmart Container:
As reported previously a new home for the container has been found. Several members are currently investigating how to relocate the container to its proposed location. It does require a crane lift and short road trip.
The members are obviously trying to get the container moved at minimal cost.
Membership -‐Applications for membership have been approved for Chris and Ann Branson (Ex Peterborough residents).
It is hoped they will be inducted in the next few weeks.

Restaurant Review.
As the next edition of the Entertainment Book is about to be distributed I thought we could include a restaurant review as a regular feature of the Bulletinand I asked Ian Roberts to get the ball rolling -‐ Wayne Comley Bulletin Editor.
A couple of Sundays ago, our wives had a Book Club function, so Garth (Palmer) and I went to lunch. We chose Cafe’ Salsa, up the road from the Surf Club at West Beach.
We were seated under the date palm in the front section, with a heater to keep us warm. We took our own bottle of Red, $10.00 corkage, and started with a Corona each.
For Starters we shared an Italian Bruschetta: Continental bread topped with diced tomato, olive oil, garlic basil and oregano -‐ Perfect.
Neither of us could go past the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare for the Main. Freshly made pasta, cooked aldente, packed with fresh seafood saute’ed in white wine, olive oil, chili, garlic, cherry tomato and parsley -‐ Full Marks.
As our wives were absent we indulged in a dessert; I ordered the waiter’s recommendation: Pastiera Napulitana, lemon scented ricotta short crust pie. Delish. Garth was very happy with his Tiramisu.
Top meal, excellent service, washed down with a Reilly’s Grenache and finished with an Espresso coffee; total bill with discount $82.00
Good value for mine, and highly recommended.
Cheers Ian.

A letter from a tradesman commencing business.
Sir,
I beg to inform you that I have commenced business this day at the above address, as a Haberdasher and
Linendraper, and if favoured occasionally with your orders, I will esteem myself indebted. My stock has been selected with great care from the
leading warehousemen in London and elsewhere, and I have made arrangements to add thereto the
newest fabric, as they are produced by the manufacturer. My own experience as a buyer enables me to purchase the
most approved goods as cheaply as any long established drapers here, and the assistants I have engaged are qualified in every respect to give effect to a
customer’s wishes.Enclosing a price list of the principle articles in stock.
I am Sir, Your obedient servant
A letter respecting damaged goods.
Dear Sir,
I regret to inform you that of the parcel of sewed muslins, delivered here in execution of my order under date 14th inst., I have had to reject fifty pieces as
being unsaleable except as damaged goods: twenty pieces are torn in several places, and the others are without
heading and frayed at the borders. I have, therefore, repacked them and delivered the package to your carriers
with instructions to place it speedily in your hands. Could I have taken the pieces to account at an allowance I would have waited
your reply: but my trade is exclusively among a class of people who never look at impefect goods, let the reduction in
price be what it may.You will please either substitute perfect pieces for the rejects or credit me with
XXX, the invoice cost of the latter.
I am,Dear Sirs,
Yours faithfully
