From the Principal’s pen

Dear Parents, Students and Community Members,

The term is certainly flying by. We have had nearly all our short

weeks for the term (just Bundaberg Show holiday on 1 June still to

come) and NAPLAN has come and gone. It has been great to wel-

come two new students to our school this week. I hope Sienna and

Callum enjoy their time here at Winfield State School.

On Monday 24 April we competed in the Cross Country at Rosedale

State School. It was a terrific day, lovely weather and the boys

came home with the trophy for the aggregate winners. Well done.

Thanks for helping with the transport and photographs Sintisa and

Barry .

We welcomed Mr Kirk to school last Thursday to provide some

strategic knowledge to the boys about chess. The boys have been

enjoying playing chess on a regular basis, but needed to have some-

one impart some strategic plays to them. Many thanks for your as-

sistance Mr Kirk. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with the boys

with their developing knowledge and understanding of the game.

Our school will be attending the Youth Touring Show production

at Rosedale State School for “The Clown From Snowy River” on 22

May and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, a puppet play with 75

magical puppets created by New York’s Puppet Kitchen. This will

be on 31 May at the Moncrieff Centre.

Our small schools’ athletics carnival will be held at Gin Gin on Fri-

day 9 June.

Last week we spent an afternoon replanting our school vege patch.

The plants are doing very well and hopefully we will have loads of

vegetables.

Our new sign has arrived and we are in

the process of organising someone to in-

stall it. Look out for the flash new sign.

At the last P and C meeting it was decided

to stop collecting aluminium cans, as a

fundraiser for the school. We will be do-

ing one last run to drop off cans we cur-

rently have at school. Thank you all very

much for your support with your cans.

Regards,

Fay Paterson
