Our lessons will begin on 22 October and end on Friday 2 November. The P & C have very generously offered to pay for the cost of the bus for each child to attend swimming lessons. This has meant that the cost for lessons will be reduced from $50 to $27 for each child. Part payments or payment plans are available, simply come into the office and arrange it with either Leonie or Vanya. All payments must be finalised by the 23 October. Enjoy your holidays and spend some quality time with your family. Cheers, Marg

Interschool Sports 2018 by Mr P

This term our Year 5s, 6s and a few Year 4s participated in our Winter interschool sporting competition. We competed in AFL, Soccer, Volleyball and Netball against Midvale PS, Middle Swan PS, Greenmount PS and S Anthony’s PS. Our AFL and Netball teams had a challenging interschool competition, with all 3 teams finishing in 5

th place. The teachers involved in these teams were very proud of the effort and

improvement shown over the 4 games and we can look forward to some continued improvement next year. As has happened a few times in the last few years, our volleyball team lead the way and won all of their games to finish in 1

st place overall. A huge congratulations to all our volleyball players

and Ms Pogorzelec who did a great job coaching the team. Our soccer team has traditionally not performed very well in the interschool competition - we have won a few games here and there but have not won soccer in more than 11 years. This term our team performed exceptionally well, winning 3 games and drawing the 4

th game. The

team scored 34 goals in their 4 games, with the last game against Greenmount being their best, winning 18-1. I am very proud of the way the soccer team played with great skill, sportsmanship and encouragement of each other, and they should all be very proud of themselves.

Canteen News by Teresa Elzer

FRUIT-N-VEG SEPTEMBER Each class from Year 1-6 were invited to the canteen to try samples of food. We had corn and zucchini fritters, mushroom pizza, sushi, cauliflower soup and carrot muffins. Students were asked to guess the vegetable. I was very impressed with everyone giving it a go. The majority approached it with enthusiasm, while some found it a challenge. The aim was to show that vegetables can be included in everyday food, that you can’t necessarily taste them and you don’t know if you like it or not until you try it. Sushi will be on the new SUMMER MENU coming out in Term 4 and as carrot muffins were the hands down favourite I have included the recipe:

280g carrot grated 3 eggs 100g milk 100g oil 100g sugar 300g flour 1tsp cinnamon

Pre heat oven 170 degrees. Mix eggs, milk, oil and sugar together add grated carrots and stir. Add remaining flour and cinnamon. Mix together gently until combined, fill muffin trays. Makes 48 mini muffins. Bake 30 mins until golden.
