The First Day of School

The first day of school will be Monday,

August 19th. School will dismiss at 12:00

Noon. There will be NO after school Care on

this day. Regular school hours will begin on

Tuesday, August 20th. Regular school hours

are 8:15am-3:30pm. Let’s make a conscience

effort to ensure the students are in their class-

room seats by 8:15am to avoid being tardy.

Volunteer Hours

Volunteering at St. Mary Catholic School is

vital to the success of our school! When

everyone works together, the more vibrant

the community becomes. I am asking each

family to log at least 25 hours. This can be

done by one family member or each member

can work toward the 25 hour requirement. If

you have received financial assistance, we

ask that you volunteer at least 40 hours. Be

sure to log in your time when you come to

the school so that your hours are accounted

for. If you’d like to volunteer to help track

hours, call the school office!

Ice Cream Social

Please join us for an Ice Cream Social after the

noon Mass until 3:00pm on Sunday, August

18th at the school. All are welcome to come

visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and

bring school supplies prior to the first day of

school. This is also an opportunity to meet

new families and share summer happenings

over ice cream. I’m looking forward to seeing

everyone!

Back to School Night

We will have a Back to School Night on

Wednesday, August 28th beginning at

6:00pm. The evening will begin in the school

gym. We will be sharing important infor-

mation with you. You will have opportunities

to sign up for various committees, and sign up

to volunteer for various events. You will have

an opportunity to go to your child’s classroom

and hear from your child’s teacher about the

expectations and various happenings for the

year. I encourage everyone to attend!

Early Release

We will continue to have early release days

this school year. Our early release will be

the first Wednesday of MOST months.

Please be sure to check the school calendar

to know which months will be early release

months. Early release means a 1:00pm

dismissal. After school Care will be availa-

ble on these days. This will give our staff

extended opportunities for staff develop-

ment. Our first early release day will be

Wednesday, October 2nd.

New Family Orientation

If you are new to our school, please plan to

attend our New Family Orientation on Thurs-

day, August 22nd beginning at 6:00pm in the

parish hall. This will be an opportunity for

you to learn more about our school and to ask

any questions you may have.

Lunch Orders

Lunch Orders are now available for August,

please note there is a change in prices. K-5

$3.00, 6-8 $3.25, Adult $4.00. There will be

NO lunch on the first day of school.

Forgotten Lunches

We continue to have this problem of forgotten

lunches. Please make an effort to ensure that

your child has a lunch for the day. The lunch-

es that the teachers make are not meant to be a

convenience for families. It is meant for stu-

dents who forgot their lunch. When we make

a lunch for your child, it takes away from our

regular duties. If you receive a forgotten

lunch charge, please be sure to pay it right

away.

Academic Calendar and School Calendar

Enclosed are the academic and school calen-

dars for 2019-2020. Please keep these calen-

dars in a visible place for future reference.

The academic calendar gives you the days off

during the school year and the school calendar

is a more in depth schedule of all school

events. Please note that the School Calendar

is subject to change.

Language History Questionnaire

In order to best serve our students, we are

asking each family to fill out the Language

History Questionnaire for each child attending

St. Mary Catholic School. This questionnaire

will help us to identify students that may bene-

fit from support services from our staff and

may allow our school to receive Title funds.

These Title funds help to provide extra help

and resources for these students. You can

either mail this to the school, or return it with

your child on the first day of school. Thank

you for taking the time to fill this out.
