The levies will reflect a small increase to cover increased costs incurred in purchasing student requisites. Once again, a discount of $10 per student will be offered to families who make full payment prior to the end of the school year. It should be noted that levies can still be paid up until the last day of February 2011 but without the discount option. Parents with Healthcare cards are advised of the requirements on the levy invoice. The school relies on all families paying the school levy to ensure that the quality and range of programs on offer can be main- tained. ARE YOU LEAVING MOUNT WAVERELY ? Could I again ask that any family that is leaving our school at the end of 2010 please let the school know in writing. A brief note will allow the school to adjust its prediction of student enrolments to assist with staffing for the coming year. Thank you for your assistance with this matter. SCHOOL SIGN IN & OUT Parents are reminded of the importance of signing students both in and out of the school between 9.10am and 3.30pm. This is a legal requirement that ensures that all students can be accounted for in the event of an emergency and to track attendance. The sign in & out books are located in the front foyer to the admini- stration building. STUDENT PICK-UP It has again come to my attention that a number of students are not being collected with in a reasonable time after school concludes at 3.30pm. Students who are not able to be picked up before 4.00pm should be placed into After Care rather that left to wait unsupervised. Teacher supervision in the yard ceases at 3.45pm and so unattended children are at greater risk. Please contact the Out of School Hours program to arrange registration if you are unable to pick up your child before 3.45pm.

LIBRARY NEWS Overdue Books Thank you to those families who have responded so quickly to notes about overdue books. I don’t want students to feel anxious or stressed about missing books, but I do want them to be responsible and to energetically chase up anything that might be missing. In Term Four we really start to focus those long over-due books that have been tucked away somewhere at home. It can take a very long time to get them all back and we need everyone to help out. Here in the library we are busily scanning EVERY SINGLE BOOK in every spare moment! This way we can be absolutely sure what’s back on the shelf and what’s still out there somewhere. I will also be sending home many reminders and requests for your support in locating missing items. Even if you feel a book has been returned, PLEASE do have a good search at home, remembering that we are also constantly checking the shelves here too, and between us we will find it. Many of our students may also have brought home books borrowed by the class teachers for classroom library corners. Please help us by getting the children to check their bookshelves for anything with a Mount Waverley Primary School barcode and stamp, and ask them to drop anything they find back to the library at any time. Year 6 students in particular need to help out with this. At this stage of their last year, to assist them in staying organised with their borrowings, Year 6 students are limited to one book at a time, and may not borrow until anything overdue has been returned. The children have ready access to the library, and may change their books at any time, so need not ever be without something to read.

HELP NEEDED! I am very shorthanded in the Library just now and would appreciate very much any help from parents, at any time, to re-shelve books accurately and to help with scanning in prepara-tion for stocktaking. This is a very busy and well used library, with hundreds of books being returned daily, so any assistance you can offer at this time of year would be fantastic. Just drop in to see me if you are able to assist. Thank you. Jacqueline Griffeth, Teacher Librarian

YEAR 6 PARENTS

GRADUATION EVENT Save the Date! The Year 6 Graduation night is on Tuesday 14th December 2010. Parents drop the children off at 5.45pm and then are required back at the Golden Sands Recep-tion centre before 8pm. This is a long night and a good one to book the baby sitter to mind younger siblings. This leaves Year 6 parents with the opportu-nity to come to our final social function to mark the end of our time with our Year 6 children at Mt Waverley Primary. It will be held in the Prep’s ‘Great Space’ from 6pm until around 7.30pm. Substantial finger food will be provided (not party pies and sausage rolls!!!). BYO soft drinks/drinks. Disposable cups will be available, BYO wine glass if you prefer. Cost $16 per person. Invitation coming soon.

Don’t forget to supply your digital photos of our Year 6 children from Prep to Year 6 to Alana Hollenberg ([email protected] 0408 010 925), who will be preparing a digital slide show to be displayed on one of the new white board screens on the night.
