1 Newsletter No. 20 - Term 3Week 1 Thursday 14 th July 2016 From the Principal……………. WELCOME BACK TO TERM 3 What an exciting term this is going to be! Our production will be held on Monday the 8 th and Tuesday the 9 th of August and we are very much looking forward to these two grand nights. Please make sure that you secure your tickets for the night that your child is appearing. These can be secured online through Trybooking. We still need helpers for makeup on those nights. If you can help please ring the office and let us know and we will give you the details. FIRST AID IN SCHOOLS Next Friday 22 nd July, we will be having St Johns First Aid visiting the school, conducting first aid sessions for children. These sessions will be for all grades, including Foundation, and these sessions are at no cost to our families. We had similar presentations from St Johns in the past and we found these are excellent sessions for children to learn basic first aid. The trainers are terrific working with children; even Foundation children can learn to ring 000 in an emergency and learn basic first aid. The sessions for the older children refer to common situations where first aid action may be needed. Im sure your children will come home full of information, so please do talk with them about the session that they have had during the day. PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS Next week we have our Deakin University Pre-Service Teachers visiting the school. These Pre- Service teachers will be working in grades alongside the teachers. They will be learning the workings of the school and classroom and their help and support will be very much appreciated as another adult helper in the classrooms. The Maroondah Network schools are very involved with pre- service teachers as we believe it is extremely important for these students to have a rich experience in schools. WORKING BEE Thank you to the families who have come along to our working bees through the year. We have a working bee coming up this Sunday and Steve and Ted would love to see lots of our families at the school. There is lots of mulch to be spread and I know Steve has a few other jobs that he would love to see finished. We really appreciate the help of our community at these events. CURRICULUM DAYS Please note on our Events Calendar that there are planned two student-free days; one in Term 3 and one in Term 4. Make sure that you diary these dates so that you can secure child care beforehand. GAIL POLLARD PRINCIPAL
