From the Pastor…

“Christ in the Details” Christ had a plan for His church. He, as Lord and Savior, would be at the center (Matthew 16:18). His trained dis-ciples would be its overseers. This basic structure and strategy for Christ’s church have not changed over the centuries. There was another Resource that would be instrumental within Christ’s church. That Power Source would be His Spirit who would be present in all believers. He would work through them as leaders and lay people to fulfill the overall mission of each church. The central characteristic of Christ’s church would be love. Relationship-building would be emphasized. Through love would come harmony and unity. Forgiveness would be generously applied. Luke gives us an outline of the first church in Acts 2, made up of 3000 new, baptized converts. Take note how love is interwoven throughout Christ’s church— “They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and to the fellowship,

to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (vs.42-47)

Christ was in the details of His church. Fellowship, stewardship, worship, outreach and evangelism all had a place. The Spirit played a part in all these ministries. We do well to reflect on how we are doing as Christ’s church where He has planted us. What are our strengths and areas for growth? Would members and guests readily identify love as the central quality of our church? Do we give the Holy Spirit the room to fulfill our potential? We celebrate our positioning in Christ’s church plan. We celebrate in our worship and our service. We are unique, yet we share in the details that make us one of Christ’s churches! To Him be the glory! In Christ, Pastor Dan

Music Committee Update August Events

New Music Leadership in Place

The Music Search Committee has been blessed this summer in finding talented individuals to head Trinity’s church music programs for the coming year.

Our Sanctuary Choir will be led this year by new director, Kay Pope. Kay has had many ties to Trinity in the past, as her three children attended school here, and she has sung solos at Trinity for various occasions. Kay is a music teach-er in the Tigerton School District for Grades K-12. Kay had an opportunity to be a choral artist with the Umbriam Ser-enades in Italy, to sing in the 2016 Westminster Choir Festival, and to sing with the Wausau Lyric Choir for 29 years. Most recently, she served as Adult Choir director at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Kay is looking forward to meeting you and working with the choir when rehearsals start in September. She will be joined at rehearsals with Karmen Teigen, who has again agreed to serve as the choir’s accompanist.

Our new Adult Handbell Choir director, Shannon Grosnick, is also well-known at Trinity. Shannon attended school here and first started ringing handbells at that time. For the last six years, she has been on staff as a teacher in our school. When she attended college at Concordia—Mequon, she rang handbells with the Alleluia Ringers and later played with the Milwaukee Area Handbell Ensemble. We welcome her as the new leader of our very talented and experienced Handbell Choir.

Moms & Tots ECLC

Moms & Tots Dear Parents and Grandparents,

Moms & Tots is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your infant, toddler, and/or preschooler while also having the opportunity to meet other adults in a Christian environment. We meet the first and third Thursday of every month during the school year from 9:15-11:15am in the Bethany room. There is no registration fee to join. We start the morning with stories and songs in the lower nursery and then move to the Bethany Room for crafts and snacks. We end the morning by burning off a little energy in the gym and close with prayer. Whether you’re a Trinity member or non-member, we look forward to seeing you there! Please call Sarah Beaumont at 715-297-3630 with any questions. Moms & Tots will resume again on Septem-ber 5, 2019.

Spirit Fruit!

It was a mild tremor…a frequent tension in this body of believers. It would have been a 4.5 on the Richter Scale (with occasional higher spikes). It was sufficient to form cracks in the foundation of the church. Most members had conditioned themselves to ignore the disharmony, as it did not affect them personally. The leaders knew its reality.

Pastor Caleb made a decision. He broke from the sched-uled reading that Sunday. His sermon centered on Gala-tians 5:16-26, under the title of “Spirit Fruit.”

He began with a focus on defining S-I-N as Separation In Nature—from God’s love design. He then defined L-O-V-E as Lord Our Very Essence. This was the context for the main message from Galatians highlighting the contrast between living by the Spirit and living according to our sin nature (vs.16-18).

He went on to highlight these “acts of the sinful na-ture”—“hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions and envy” (vs.20b-21a). He then intentionally added verse 21b for impact…let-ting the power of God’s inspired Word have its affect—

“I warn you, as I did before, that those that live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Following an intentionally longer pause, Pastor Caleb slowly read the “fruit of the Spirit” emphasizing that these were character qualities of Christ—

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love…joy…peace…patience…kindness…goodness… faithfulness….gentleness…and self-control” (vs.22-23a).

As the “fruit” was savored by the congregation he con-cluded with the final verses—

“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sin-ful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other” (vs.24-26).

“God has spoken. Amen”

Joining the Spirit, Pastor Dan

9 TRINITY ON STEWART—A MISSOURI SYNOD LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL August 2019

Article: Mission India “Going Back in History...Do You Remember?”

Mission India (a mission outreach supported by our congregation since December of 2000) is a Christian Mission Outreach organization which is committed to sharing the Gospel message (John 3:16 and Matthew 28:18-20) with the people of India. I was privileged to go on a Mission Trip to India in 1999. Some of you may remember the follow-up with Trinity handing out $10,000 to those in worship (6th grade and up) on the weekend of September 13th with each adult worshiper receiving $10 to “grow.” The end result was that the members of our church family creatively raised $30,000 by December of 2000. The $10,000 handout was returned to Trinity and $20,000 was sent to Mission India to support ten evangelists reaching out with the Gospel message in India. Truly the Lord had blessed that Mis-sion Outreach. Mission India continues to faithfully share the message of Christ crucified and risen for the salvation of souls.

In India, a concern has arisen with the re-elected Modi government. An anti-Christian campaign continues with Christians facing increasing persecution. Without the saving Gospel message and with increasing restrictions on Christianity, there is a real need to continue our prayers on our brothers and sisters in India.

Without the light of Christ, life for many in India seems hopeless. It doesn’t mean their problems, like for us, disap-pear, but it means they (like us) have hope for the future in God’s Word (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Even if we cannot give them $20,000 at this time to spread the Gospel message (we do give them $1,000 annually), there is something all of us can do. We can pray for them to hear the Good News through the Bible Literacy Classes and Children’s Bible Clubs provided by Mission India. Despite the increasing persecution in India against Christianity, we trust the Holy Spirit will work in His time and way for the salvation of souls. Please include the outreach for Christ in India in your daily prayers.

Special Prayer Requests from Mission India for us to include in our daily prayers:

Yahweh, we pray for Children’s Bible Club members, Aruni and Rajul, whose dads are both alcoholics. We pray for their transformation.

Holy Spirit, we ask you to inspire and equip Christians in Manipur state to live out the Great Commission.

Lord, we praise you that Chaya asked her Adult Literacy teacher to start a prayer group in her home! We pray for her husband’s salvation.

Almighty God, we pray for complete healing for Balan from his disease. Minister to him through Church Planter Kashish.

Jesus, we pray for Adult Literacy student Sama to stop practicing witchcraft and know you as the one true God.

Almighty God, we ask you to heal Children’s Bible Club member, Tavish from epilepsy. Use his healing to draw many to you.

God, we thank you that a Children’s Bible Club has helped Eshna take better care of herself. We pray for her entire family’s salvation. In Christ, Pastor Dennis Pegorsch

Parish Administration

Facilities/Properties Properties Ministry is looking at 2 possible options for the Stewart Avenue Step Repair. The digital renderings of each option are displayed in the Lounge off the Narthex. One option includes pouring concrete steps/planters, and replacing the granite with brick facing. The second option is a railed patio that would allow for some fellow-ship on Stewart Avenue. The Properties Ministry presented this again for informational purposes only at the Spring Voters’ Assembly and received much feedback. We recognize that the granite ties Trinity to the commu-nity and holds some sentimental value. We will look at options to incorporate the granite into either design. We are looking into bids for each project. When the Properties Ministry has more information, they will present it to the congregation. We are working to repair some brick on the eastern wall of the Upper Sanctuary. Once we repair the exterior, we will move to repair areas of the Upper Sanctuary that have incurred water damage, causing the plaster to peel off. UPDATE: Due to matching the brick, this is taking longer than expected. The project is scheduled for July, and should be completed by the end of summer.

June Financial Summary Tithes and Offerings came in under budget by about $22,000 in June. This was a big downslide when compared to other months in the fiscal year, which closes out the fiscal year at 89% of budgeted Tithes and Offerings. While this isn’t the most positive turn, we have been good stewards with our blessings. As we close out the fis-cal year, we are looking at a $54K gain of income over expense. The June monthly principal and interest payment was paid as budgeted. We continue to be able to pay down additional principal on the existing debt through Reaching Up and Reaching Out. In June, we paid $4,539 in addi-tional principal! Balances on the existing debt are as follows:

Endowment Loan: $171,321 Thrivent Loan: $619,254 TOTAL DEBT: $790,575

With a new Associate Pastor starting in July, we will have additional expenses. Our prayer is that, through continued good stewardship, we as a congregation will support the financial needs of the church and school. Overall, Trinity is ending the fiscal year in the black, paying down debt, growing in the school and childcare, and bringing on new Pastoral staff. We have so many wonderful blessings to celebrate! Please continue to pray for the future of Trinity – that we may be blessed to be a blessing to others in the com-munity and beyond through a fruitful ministry to those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ (John 15:5).

**If there is something specific you want to know or need clarification on with respect to financials,

please do not hesitate to email Tina Dickens [email protected].**

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

ROAR! VBS Recap: It was an AWESOME week at VBS where 123 children from St. Mark’s, Trinity, other area churches, and the surrounding community attended Va-cation Bible School. It was truly a team effort as St. Mark’s and Trinity worked together to provide over 50 volunteers! Children took part in active Bible stories, songs, games, interesting gizmos, crafts, and preparing snacks for each other – all while being reminded that when life gets wild, GOD IS GOOD! Over $200 was col-lected for the Operation Kid-to-Kid Mission Project which will help provide nutrition packets and medical visits for mothers and young babies in Africa. A HUGE thank you to everyone for your prayers, donations, and support of this year’s VBS. GOD IS GOOD!
