Dear TLS Community, Serving Others Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms - 1 Peter 4:10 This term, our Christian Studies unit revolves around Service. We’re very fortunate that the theme for our Chapel services, ‘the Fruits of the Spirit,’ tie in perfectly. Last week, our class began discussing what service means for us and how we can go about serving others. It is more blessed to give than receive - Acts 20:35 In our lesson, we spent some time writing a meaningful letter to another member of the class to celebrate their gifts and build their self-esteem. WORSHIP

As well as daily class devotions, School Worship is held each week when all who participate have the opportuni-ty to worship God through praise, song, prayer and hearing God’s word.

We worship as a whole school weekly on Friday morning in the Harvest Centre. Classes take turns organising worship services regularly. Information about which classes are presenting and their theme will be published in the school newsletter. We also worship together on the first day of school term at 9:00am and on the last day of term at 2.40pm, except Term 4 where we will gather for our end of year service in the evening.

Offerings are collected at these services to support our World Vision sponsor child and other worthy charities.

Parents and friends of the school are most welcome to participate and are invited to stay afterwards for morning tea which is provided by the class that has presented the service.

An Exciting New Kids Run in the Barossa Valley

Unlike most adults, kids are generally natural runners! Encouraging them to continue and love a sport like running can change their lives and set them on a path of a lifetime of activity. Something which is so important in this age of technology. Parents who run know that there is something truly exhilarating about moving under the power of your own body. Those who run, understand the sense of achievement that comes from knowing you’re strong enough to handle even the most challenging terrain and have the endurance to cover the distance. There’s nothing quite like the sense of mindfulness that comes from just by putting one foot in front of the other and being at one with the great outdoors. People enjoy running for many reasons, however as parents who lead active lifestyles we know it can sometimes be a struggle to engage our kids in the same activities. While running a marathon might be your idea of an awesome way to spend part of the weekend, it is probably not on the radar of your child. However, that’s not to say your child can’t experience all the joy of a fulfilling run. Sometimes, it’s just about finding an event that will show them what an enjoyable pastime running can be. Here in the Barossa we now have a brand new run giving our kids an exciting opportunity to have some fun, challenge themselves and maybe develop an interest in running. The Runaway Barossa Marathon sets a new stand-ard for kid’s runs in South Australia and its right here on our doorstep. So put Saturday 21 October 2017, in your diary and get ready to enjoy an awesome running event with your kids! Head to the runaway Barossa website to find out more or to register http://runawaybarossamarathon.com.au If you are not a runner but might be a start line or media assistant, a course marshal or just happy to help out wherever we need you, please contact Elaine Wilson at [email protected]. Hope to see you there!
