From the Governor’s desk…

Well here we are again, I’m writing this on a day with 50+ degrees expected. If that don’t get you thinking about spring, I don’t know what will. One thing for sure more, snow and ice will return. The competition season which we all are looking forward to, is taking shape. Final dates for the West Region events will be discussed at the February 21st and 22nd NCCC Governors Meeting. I plan to attend that meeting and represent CCC. It should be a very busy meeting, a lot to cover. At the Governors meeting I will be presenting a check to the Director of Charity for St Jude’s Research Hospital. These are 2019 funds. That reminds me, it is time for you to select your favorite charity for 2020. Your selection must be in to me by February 28, 2020. We have received all the new autocross timing equipment and are currently working through the setup process. We have meet the last couple of Saturdays, taking a step at a time. Big thanks goes out to Pete Fagan, Walter Killam and Don Labrie for their efforts. You have been reminded several times already about WR permanent numbers. Please go to the WR website for the request form. Keep in mind the dollars from the numbers goes to the scholarship fund. I recently send a letter of recommendation for a scholarship. Please don’t hesitate to fill out an application for your grandchildren. There were very few application last year. Once again check the all the websites. They are full of useful information.

SAVE the WAVE Jerry

Inquiring minds want to know

I recently canceled the West Region Banquet because of lack of interest. One couple from Iowa and one couple from Kansas were the only out of towner's to sign up. A month ago, I got in touch with all the Governors from Iowa and Kansas to drum up more support. Every one of them replied with reasons why no one was able to attend. I could have extended the deadline by a week and it wouldn’t have made a bit of difference. As president of the West Region, it’s my duty to do what’s best for the West Region, so I contacted the entire board of directors of the West Region, to lay out the situation. If we didn’t get at least 35 more people to attend, the West Region would fall short by over $700.00 of meeting the minimum food and beverage requirements agreed upon. That wasn’t going to happen, so they all agreed with me, the best thing to do was cancel the event. Since your RCD is going to hand out awards for the West Region at our banquet on March 21st,look at it this way, would you rather have 38 people cheering for you when you get your awardor have more than twice as many people applauding you for your accomplishment. I would choose the later. Let’s have a great turnout for our banquet, enjoy each other’s company, enjoy a great meal and cheer on the winners.
