Explorers And Adventurers

‘The most valuable asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a heart full of love, with a ear ready to listen and a hand willing to help’.

Teaching children about kindness is an important step in their development. And this week was all about kindness, grace and courtesy. With stories on being kind, lovely songs on politeness and flashcards on the magic words, the children understood the importance of good manners and how one must always help those in need. We also had a few skits on good manners enacted by our teachers. The culmination of the entire week was however seen on Friday when all children came dressed in lovely hues of Blue and Pink.

Artwork comprised of some interesting activities this week, from colouring and sticking, the class thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they used their imagination

and experimented with colours while at the same time learning about the month’s UOIs. The class of Adventurers were also involved in a worksheet where they had to match pictures of objects found in a park.

This Special Thursday was cooking and the children got together to make some yummy Bhelpuri with lots of healthy ingredients. An activity enjoyed by all, it was great to see them relish their creation.

With the Sports Day just around the corner, the children are now enjoying the regular practice sessions. We wish them the very best!

Discoverers

This week we continued with the topic of Insects and Birds. During circle time we discussed their features and distinct characteristics. The children worked with the models of insects from our school resources and watched multi media presentations on Birds and their habitats and worked on a number of worksheets related to this unit.

This week we also celebrated Kindness Week to make them understand how important it is to be polite and kind to everyone around.’

The children shared their experiences and excitement when they discussed the topic- ‘In the Park’ in the class with their friends. They very cheerfully and enthusiastically told us about the different types of slides they enjoyed going down. The toy tunnel however, fascinated them the most. In the ‘Park’ seemed to be the most exciting topic for the class of Discoverers.

In Montessori we revised the sounds of the two vowels 'a' and 'o' and traced sand paper letters. The children have now been introduced to the sound of ‘i’. They worked with the colour tablets, the pink tower and a few exercises of practical life like transferring using tongs and pouring beans.

For our Special Thursday cooking activity the children were helped in making chatpata mouthwatering bhelpuri.

“The fire fly at night goes blink blink blink "

Presenting this wonder of nature to children through a song was an experience by itself. The little enquirers learnt about this wonderful insect, along with " The ants that go marching" and " fluttering little butterflies “.

We matched and counted different insects and birds in our work sheets. We also coloured dragonflies and birds, and merrily brought to life a picture of the park with vivid greens, reds and blue.

In our group activity, the Enquirer's mixed and tossed up a tasty bhelpuri with healthy carrots and cucumbers. They loved their snack and came back for more.

Alphabet writing is done daily in the class in the Language Book. The concept of "Count and Write Numbers" will be done this week in the Math book.

On Funtastic Friday we all came dressed in Blues and Pinks to celebrate Kindness Day. A fun day packed with lots of interesting activities and audio-visuals on the importance of being kind, the week went by on a positive note!

Many TLC parents believe that education is the best investment we can make for our children. Investing in early childhood education is especially important because it sets a strong foundation for future learning.

We do ensure that every child feels respected, cared for, listened to and valued for who they are and what they offer. We give them many experiences to help them explore, think and become independent learners.

We have no idea what the future will be like, 20 years from now, when our TLC-ites will be ready to begin working, which is why our curriculum is based on skills, concepts and attitudes that give them a strong foundation, that makes them resilient, adaptable, sustainable, building on the wisdom drawn from Dr. Montessori’s research.

TLC graduates are compassionate and principled citizens of the World, the leaders of tomorrow.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you, through a very busy schedule over the next week. Please do make the time to be there, so you can share information and express your ideas of how your child is progressing.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing us to share your journey with us… and, we are here to make it a huge success.

Looking Forward…
