PASTOR CORNER

You have a mission, a vocation in life. God made each one of you for a reason. He made each one of you to be a reflection of his own glory and his own holiness. God made you to be saints! That means that God has great expectations for each one of you. He wants you to be a saint and he has something that he wants you to do in this world — something that no one else can do for him. Being a saint doesn’t separat-ing ourselves from the world. It means just the opposite! Holiness means loving God and serving our neighbors right here and right now — in the middle of the world. God needs saints in every area of life. He needs mothers and fathers who are saints. He needs saints in our parish-es and schools; saints in the media and businesses; saints in politics and on Wall Street. One of my favorites saints — he’s not canonized yet — is Blessed Salvador Huerta Gutiérrez. He ran an auto repair shop in Guadalajara in the 1900s. In fact, he was so good at fixing cars, they used to call him Mago de Coches, the “Magician of Cars.” Blessed Salvador was an ordinary guy — a good husband and father, he had twelve children; went to Mass every day, prayed with his family. And he tried to “sanctify” his work — he tried to do every little thing for the glory of God and the good of his neighbors. That’s what saints do, that’s what makes them saints. So what does God want you to be doing? What path does he want you to follow in your life? You have to ask God these questions, so that you can go out and make a differ-ence in the world. So that you can go out and make this world what God wants it to be — a world of beauty and truth and holiness; a world of love and justice and com-passion.

MISSION BELL

Did you know that children who attend MBPS enter Kin-dergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabular-ies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not? So why not insist on Mission Bell for a totally Catho-lic education for your little one? We have a few openings in our Preschool Class (3’s) California state requires all children be 3 years old by September 1, 2017, completely toilet trained and be cur-rent with immunizations. Call 802-6375. Both classes had the privilege of on campus visitors re-cently. Law enforcement officers, deputies, and fire fight-ers took time out of their busy schedules just for us! Hoo-ray! We graphed a Halloween safety chart with Officer Leon, got to investigate the patrol vehicle of Deputy Ibanez, and stopped, dropped, and rolled with Firefighter Macias! Thank you God for these and all of our Commu-nity Helpers. Please keep them safe!

Happy Fall Blessings! Miss Cheryl

Car Raffle—we need parishioners to take tick-ets and sell them out in the community. We cannot reach the maximum sales just selling in house after Masses. Please see Estela Carlos to get tickets. Thanks!

DID YOU KNOW?

Family travel safety rules

If you’re traveling to spend Thanksgiving with friends or family, it’s important that everyone in your group is up to speed on travel safety, and this safety starts at home. Make sure you have plans in place that let friends and family know where you’re headed, and set up your house to look “lived-in” when you’re on the road. Teach kids to pack smart—avoid bringing unneeded valuables and car-ry only the necessary ID cards and money in the event of an emergency. For a copy of the VIRTUS® article “Family Travel and Vacation Safety,” :http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx or call (213) 637-7508.
