“Alarm+ muster system” – so effective that people in towns 25 miles from Boston were aware of the army’s movement while they were still unloading boats in Cambridge Revere’s ride triggered a flexible system of “Alarm and Muster”. Bells, drums, alarm guns, bonfires and a trumpet were used for rapid communication from town to town, notifying the rebels in dozens of eastern Massachusetts villages that they should muster their militias because the regulars in numbers greater than 500 were leaving Boston, with possible hostile intentions. This system was so effective that people in towns 25 miles (40 km) from Boston were aware of the army’s movements while they were still unloading boats in Cambridge.

Presentation Notes
In order to be able to deliver on Efficiency, Agility, and Resiliency to you, we engineer for your success. We have key tenets to our architecture – think of these as design goals or core values – every product and solution we design must fit these tenets. Our tenets capture much of the capabilities we have today, but also capture our vision and we are headed as a solutions provider. This includes: Best in class tiering both within our storage arrays and policy driven tiering across platforms and locations Value propositions for purchasing our server, networking, and storage together (unique features) Maximum efficiency in place and in motion including data reduction, innovative provisioning, greater network utilization, etc. Native cloud integration – making cloud easy to use and making it a part of your data center Self Protecting Storage – Storage that can provide and automate protection for recovery in the event of data loss or corruption Scale Out Storage – Storage solutions that scale and grow with you, focused on ease of use and provisioning Innovative licensing – Today we have things like perpetual licensing for Compellent and all-inclusive licensing for Equallogic, each of which lower the total cost of ownership for customers. You will see us continue with these unique models going forward Consistent Ownership Experience – We want to create value around the use and servicing of our products, like ease of use and deployment, proactive monitoring and service like you see today in Co-Pilot. We will continue to modify the interaction of our products and services with customers Today for the sake of this panel discussion today we are focused on maximizing data efficiency
