From informational society to knowledge society it is the fourth volume of

reference in the series of works that Professor Michael Draganescu has

established - in the last three decades - societal system dynamics in the

information age, this age includes the informational society, knowledge society -

that the author has anticipated since 1976 - and , in perspective , society

consciousness that he conceptualized it in 2000.

Evolution of the information society to the knowledge is not reducible to a simple

linear - sequential transition , but is represented as a complex process of

becoming a societal system . Resorting to structural -phenomenological approach

, own conception , Professor Michael Draganescu explained in an original manner

the determinism of this becomig identifying technological and functional vectors

of the knowledge society; first category includes vectors such as the Internet ,

electronic books , artificial intelligence and the Nanoelectronics and in the second

part there are knowledge management , knowledge and innovation culture ,

intelligence activities to assist the economy , administration, education, health,environmental protection.

It has a particularly relevant logical argumentation which accredits to the

concept of "new economy" acceptance of knowledge-based economy, where the

performances of organizations under the Iinnovation and learning system and

management of their intangible competitive assets . In the same vein , it follows

that sustainable economic development ( \" sustainable \" ) is necessarily a

knowledge-based one, as perception of globalization in terms of acceptance or

rejection is a false problem , after all having to discern between " good " and "

evil " and that inevitable globalization can bring them.

Facing increasingly acute in the world , challenges such as vulnerability to

Internet , knowledge management or the moral relationship between human

intelligence and the art ificial requires the individual and collective actors ,

animated features not only the intellectual aspiration to new discoveries, but

what we might call "ethical legitimacy responsible".

The author demonstrates that , for Romania , the advance towards a knowledge

society is a priority of the thread near future , even if the effects a popular state

in the '90s persist as " informational underdevelopment" , but an information

society is still pending , according to the combining theory , if the solutions of

the informational society are applied in organizational systems and social trends

mature an be reached - through leap - directly to the emergence of some

features of knowledge society.

Reading the 9 chapters of the book induces to the informed the reader, but also

of the effective participation at the Romanian project of knowledge society, which

we understand to have the focus on promoting specific practices and structures

through its specific excelence: skills and creativity , virtual organizations ,

communities of professionals , working under collaborative and distance learning

throughout the lifespan , etc.

Through scientific authority of the content and through its progammatic

message the recent work of Academician Michael Draganescu contribute

substantially to decipher and shape the deep meanings of the societal system

evolution in the direction of a civilization in which the use of knowledge and

smart technologies is in consonance with the perennial human nature and not

against it.
