Dr. Bhawanisingh Desai is an Associate Professor at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University and Faculty Advisor at SPE PDPU Student Chapter. He is a preeminent member behind the foundation of SPE PDPU Student Chapter. We, at PDPU, have always tried to expand opportunities for the potential petroleum engineers to develop a better approach towards problem-solving skills and encourage their intellect and core knowledge in the exigent petroleum sector. Dr. Bhawanisingh G Desai
-Associate Professor, SPT
Mr. Jatin Agarwal holds the position of Manager at SPT, PDPU. He has pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from VNSGU and two Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from PDPU and the University of Tulsa. At present, he is working to establish Centre of Excellence in Enhanced Recovery at PDPU and serves as a mentor to Innovation and Incubation Center, PDPU. He has served as the first President of SPE PDPU Student Chapter and hence, is connected with the Chapter since its foundation. Owing to his experience and guidance, the Chapter has grown and made significant development. Therefore, it is a matter of great privilege to have him as the Faculty Mentor of SPE PDPU Student Chapter.

About PDPU SPE Fest 2018
PDPU SPE Fest’18 was the colossal of oil and gas industry under the maxim of “Crossroads of Intellect” where the intellectuals from various institutes come together to innovate and inspire something new. The fest saw huge participation from international universities of Afghanistan, Nigeria, Yemen among many others and national universities as well. It was adorned by events like Showcase: Paper and Poster competition, Apotheosis: Model Making competition, Mud-O-Gee, Feud-A-Nation, Bid Your Block and other such stipulating events where the participants brought out brilliant research and ideas. It gave an opportunity for the participants to exhibit revolutionary ideas, grow professionally, eradicate enigmas and sharpen their skills in multiple ways. The fest assisted the budding engineers in inspiring innovation.

Showcase, the bellwether of PDPU SPE Fest, is the technical paper and poster presentation competition in which the partakers can demonstrate their ideas and manifest their research in the petroleum industry. This event does not only bring the budding researchers under one roof but also holds the pivot of this global colloquium and provides a platform for budding graduates to showcase their ideas and share them with the luminaries and stalwarts from different disciplines of the industry.
Oil and Gas Industry faces a number of problems due to a lack of certain resources. A substantial enhancement in technology is necessary to overcome these obstructions in order to gain maximum benefits. Apotheosis aims at the betterment of the industry. It is an excellent platform that provides the budding minds with an opportunity to exhibit their innovative ideas through a model.

Examen: Case Study Solving competition is one such opportunity where aspirants can flaunt their fundamental
understanding. The petroleum industry faces numerous problems each day. The participants will be provided with a current issue from the industry with some statistics for them to work upon to find a suitable solution. The teams would be judged upon their solutions, their approach to the problem and the application of their knowledge as well as the feasibility of the solution.
Virtual Block Bidding is a event in which the participating students will get familiar with the bidding process within the oil and gas industry. The event will begin with a brief session on HELP BIDDING, followed by a Virtual Block Bidding competition and thereafter the analysis of the block allocated to them from the data provided. This event is intended to aware participants over the bidding process and enhancing their understanding over it, thus aiding future petroleum engineers by enlightening them the whole gamut of the trade.

Exegesis is an event that is basically interpretation of well log. The event permits the participants to utilize basic principles of a well logging in comprehending petro-physical properties of the formation. Formation analysis followed by comprehensive well log interpretation exercise shall be extremely productive from the perspective that participants will acquire practical skills which will be handy during their professional work in future.
Rocks have been present on earth since its inception. Geology is the field of study of earth and its formation and knowledge of geology is of utmost importance for the Oil and Gas sector. Geolog - The geology quiz renders a platform to test the elementary knowledge of the aspiring minds about the minerals, rocks and their petrophysical properties. The participants will be scrutinized with gritty quizzes and head-scratching challenges related to geology.

This contest mainly deals with the tactics of the puzzle solving skills of the partakers who will have to go through increasing perplexity levels. Conundrum can help you to test your skills and to know where you stand among other competitors.
Catechize is an international quizzing competition wherein students from various universities all over the world can test their knowledge and expand their understanding of the Petroleum industry, right from exploration to refining. The preliminary round is conducted online prior to the fest and the selected teams pass on to the final round which is held during the fest. If you think that you have a sound knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry, then it’s time to buckle up for this contest.

A properly designed and prepared drilling fluid plays a vital role in safe and effective drilling. It is an excellent opportunity for the petroleum enthusiasts to amplify their knowledge further.
Quid-Pro-Quo is a spot trading competition which offers noteworthy scope to percieve the mechanism of finance and Stock Trading. The participants will be provided with analytical data and trends over the timeline would be displayed on our event partner’s website. The participants must analyse the data and then put their stake on the company that can maximize the profit. The stocks as per real-time market value will undergo profit and loss. Feud-a-nation is an intriguing event where the participants use their comprehensive knowledge in trendsetting debates. The event will boost the participant’s diplomatic and geopolitical knowledge.
Energy Mania: “The jostling of young minds against each other has this wonderful attribute, that one can never foresee the spark, nor predict the flash”. To fuel this spark with energy, we bring forth Energy Mania which is a fun-filled and information-inducing quiz for school students to test their knowledge on the current energy scenario. The importance of energy sustenance is a very crucial aspect and therefore, we aim at raising consciousness about energy sources and inherent challenges.
