    With a mind, Extremely Analytical

"I had three palaces: one for the cold season, one for the hot season, one forthe rainy season. During the four months of the rainy season I wasentertained in the rainy-season palace by entertainers without a single manamong them, and I did not once come down from the palace. Whereas theservants, workers, & retainers in other people's homes are fed meals of lentilsoup & broken rice, in my father's home the servants, workers, & retainerswere fed wheat, rice, and meat.Even though I was endowed with such fortune, such total refinement, thethought occurred to me: 'When an untaught, run-of-the-mill person, himselfsubject to aging, not beyond aging, sees another who is aged, he is horrified, humiliated, & disgusted, oblivious to himself that he too is subject to aging, not beyond aging. If I — who am subject to aging, not beyond aging — wereto be horrified, humiliated, & disgusted on seeing another person who isaged, that would not be fitting for me.' As I noticed this, the [typical] youngperson's intoxication with youth entirely dropped away.”

    In search of True Happiness

At age 29 the black haired young prince renounced his throne and entered ahomeless ascetic life amidst the resistance of crying parents. He called himselfAscetic Gotama.

Gotama came to Master Alara Kalama and soon excelled his doctrine and laterMoved on since it did not help realize his objective. He came to a second Master Uddaka and soon excelled his doctrine and laterMoved on since it too did not help either.

Ascetic Gotama thought extreme ascetic practice might be the way to realizeHis objective and started with non-breathing Trans. Combined with a restricteddiet with extreme starvation abandoning any solid and chewable food. Limited himself for a drop of lentil or rice soup once a while.

Gotama suffered from anorexia and yet he did not stop. He was determined To achieve his goal than abandoning this path of suffocation he has taken. He continued extreme austerities for 6 long years for a result worthy of seeing.[KN Buddhavamsa]

    The Power of Determination

“The skin of my belly became so stuck to my spine that when I thought of touching my belly, I grabbed hold of my spine as well; and when I thought of touching my spine, I grabbed hold of the skin of my belly as well”

    -Maha-Saccaka Sutta (MN 36 / MN 1.4.6)

Finally he gave up self-denial since it did not give him results. He recalled how he entered First Jhana when he was a child, and thought that might be the way to find what he was looking for. He then startedConsuming adequate food andRestored health then discovered a technique a.k.a Noble Path which Lead to Enlightenment and soon attained his goal.
