Friday the 23nd of March
Bonshaw Public School
Well the term is really flying by with us already in
Week 7.
We were very fortunate last week to have Mrs
Julia Harpham present us all with a display and
talk on a wide variety of information from Papua
New Guinea (being the CWA Country of Study for
this year). Yetman and Mingoola Public Schools
joined us for the day along with parents and CWA
ladies. A special thank you to Mrs Harpham for her
very informative talk. Thank you also for the
wonderful morning tea provide by our parents and
the CWA ladies.
On the 5th March we also enjoyed a performance
from a 31 piece Bavarian band at Mingoola Hall.
The band actively involved the students in a
number of songs - including the "Chicken" dance.
Gwen and Jack from “Sketch n Scripture” visited
this week and shared stories and songs with us.
Our minibeast studies have taught us a number of
fascinating facts such as:
dragonflies can fly up to 95km/h
European Honey bees can flap their wings up to
200 times a second
Ladybugs eat up to 5,000 aphids in their
lifetime.
We are busy getting organised for our Anzac Day
service on the 25th April, 8am. We welcome all
community to come and join us on Anzac Day.
Kind regards,
Mrs Kim

meeting. The school will be placing the order with LW Reid on Friday 5th of April. Could you please ensure you have let the
school know by this date if you want us to order a jacket for your child/children. At this stage the jacket with embroidery will cost approximately $45.00. If you need sizing information or wish to view the

Congratulations to ALL the Bonshaw Public School Team. . .we were awarded a grant of $1000 from Woolworths and Landcare to revitalise our garden! So the "Bonshaw Bush Tucker Garden" will be a project for this year. In the application we had to outline where we were located and how many children attend Bonshaw, and how a grant could help them build a garden.
Because we already have a garden established, we wrote about how the drought had made all growing things struggle, and how if we could grow some native plants or plants that we use to cook with, then Bonshaw could use the money to grow plants and cook them in their new kitchen! So things like a new timer to help watering, and plants like Davidson's Plum, Finger Limes, and other natives or edible plants were mentioned. Soon you can all help in the planning, then planting, watering and growing, and hopefully the EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woolworths representative Belinda came all the way from Inverell to present the grant, and promises to return later in the year to enjoy the garden when it is productive. She left the school a huge box of gorgeous fruit to be shared among the kids, and we hope to have something yummy to present her when she returns.
The 31 piece “Original Bavarian Brass Band” that performed at Mingoola Hall and the Tenterfield
10th Biennial Bavarian Music Festival in March. It was very entertaining for the
adults and the students.
