Access to Venue

• Athlete’s Lounge is located west of the Age Group Transition.

• Enter through the south gates of the Age Group transition and walk up

the outer aisle. Allowed access to bus stop and then out. must be in

by 10 AM

Check-in Procedures 1

•Athletes’ Lounge

• Come with your registered handler/guide

• Handler t-shirt and race number check

• Equipment check & marking (braces, tethers, etc.)

• Bike check (Bike mechanic available)

Pre-start Procedure

•Athletes’ Introduction• 10 minutes before start – line-up just before entrance to

pontoon

• Order will be wave no., then category, then race no.

• Move to the swim platform when you are introduced

• Personal handlers can escort you to the pontoon and take your prothesis, crutches or daily wheelchairs to pre-transition.

• Select your position, and sit on the pontoon at that spot. Please remain there until instructed to get into the water

• No prothesis socks are allowed in the swim unless the pins are covered. We will ask you to remove these at the pontoon.

Start Procedure 1

• Wave Starts

• New staggered start to accommodate varying levels of ability

for the PT5

• Each wave will start at an exact time

• Please follow instructions promptly.

announces “On Your Mark!”

False Start Procedure

•False start with many athletes• Several horn blasts

• Kayaks move in front of you

• Everyone goes back to his/her original start spot

•Valid start with early starters• If a few athletes start before the horn and everyone else

starts with the horn, the false starter(s) will receive a 10

second penalty in TA1. During the time penalty, the

athlete(s) man NOT touch any equipment.

Pre-Transition Area

• Athletes’ registered equipment (prosthesis, crutches, day

chairs)

• Folding chairs for wetsuit removal

• Athletes from PT5 are not allowed to use the pre transition

area

• Only PT1 handlers’ are allowed in this area

Transition Area

• Individual bike racks – number, name and country flag

• All used equipment – wetsuit, goggles & swim caps to your area. Not

doing so time penalty

• Mount line at the end of the TA (GREEN LINE)

• Dismount line at the beginning of TA (RED LINE)

• PT1 shall stop completely at mount and dismount lines

• Helmet MUST be fastened before un-racking bike

• Personal handlers should stay next to the athletes’ bike rack during the

bike leg or at the wheel station. Handlers’ moving to and from TZ to

the wheel station, should inform the Technical Officials

• Bibs facing backwards during the bike – PT1 athletes must put the bib on

the hand cycle

offence: DSQ

Run Penalty Box

• Run Penalty Box is for infringements in TA1, TA2 or on the

Run Course• Mount before mount line

• Dismount after dismount line

• Equipment outside your area, et. cetera

• Location: Near return to transition

• Notification: Posted on white board at Penalty Box

(YOU MUST read the board)

• Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of

the run

transition that may be needed right after

he/she finishes

• Photo Finish

• When you finish, keep moving through to the mixed-zone

• For awards, dress “up” with race uniform or country clothes

• Ambush marketing rules apply

• Hats/visors are allowed on the podium with maximum 1

sponsor logo having a maximum height of 4 cm and a total

area of 20 cm2

Ambush Marketing Rule

• Ambush marketing is defined as:

“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and

media photographers to acquire additional exposure for

your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”

• The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will

immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any.

• Please follow the ambush marketing rule

Post-race Procedures

• Anti-doping Control• Photo ID is REQUIRED for every athlete that is selected for testing

• Team Medical Access• Only accredited team medical personnel will be permitted to enter

the medical tent, after receiving the ITU Medical Delegate’s

permission

• Each National Federation is permitted to have 1 team

medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with

the ITU Medical Delegate (Dr. Marie-Claude Gregoire)

• Coaches accreditations will only be distributed to those

coaches whose National Federations registered them

through the on-line system
