When is it safe for the owner to touch their dog after Bravecto administration?Bravecto is an oral product so there is no reason to stop touching the dog when treating with Bravecto.

Can I use Bravecto all year-round?Bravecto can be used all year-round. Fleas are often a year-round problem, indoors and outdoors. Applying Bravecto every 3 months ensures pet dogs will be protected from fleas throughout the year.

How does Bravecto kill fleas and ticks?Fluralaner, the active ingredient, is absorbed systemically. When fleas and ticks commence feeding they will take up fluralaner. Fluralaner causes a dysfunction of the nervous system of fleas and ticks and prevents them from moving and functioning normally.1,2 Bravecto will provide eective control of fleas within 8 hours, and paralysis ticks within 24 hours after treatment.3

Does Bravecto kill fleas before they can lay eggs?Yes. Bravecto kills newly emerged fleas before they lay eggs and breaks the flea life cycle.3 Breaking the flea life cycle is important for ongoing flea control.

Can dead ticks still be found attached to treated dogs? Yes. Due to the systemic nature of action of Bravecto, dead attached ticks can still be seen on animals following treatment. These ticks may appear partially engorged. Dead ticks can be easily removed as opposed to live ticks which take some force to dislodge from the skin of dogs.

Is it necessary to use additional insecticides to control flea stages in the environment? How does Bravecto work to control flea life stages in the environment? Bravecto provides 3 months flea ecacy, a time period that covers the entire flea life cycle.3,4 It is not necessary to use additional insecticides to control flea stages in the environment. Fleas which have fed on a Bravecto treated dog cannot produce a new flea generation, and due to the long duration of ecacy, the flea life stages in the environment are also eliminated over time. Juvenile life stages (eggs, larvae, pupae) which are present in the environment will mature to adult fleas. Once these fleas get on the treated dog to start feeding, they are also killed before they can lay eggs.3

Can Bravecto be used in breeding/pregnant/lactating dogs?Yes. Bravecto is approved for use in breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs.3

Does Bravecto help manage flea allergy dermatitis?Yes. An Australian dermatologist run study has confirmed that Bravecto treats and reduces the incidence of flea allergy dermatitis.3

Is Bravecto eective against other dog parasites(e.g. mosquitoes/flies/mites/lice/nematodes)? No. Bravecto is approved for control of fleas, paralysis ticksand brown dog ticks only.3

Can Bravecto be used in other pets?Bravecto is designed for administration to dogsand is not approved for use in other animals.

Can a dog swim or be shampooed after they receive Bravecto? Bravecto is an ideal choice for dogs with a love of swimming or dogs that require shampooing and bathing due to its systemic activity.

What time of day should I give my dog Bravecto?Bravecto can be given to your dog any time of the day, however it is recommended that Bravecto be administered at or around the time of feeding due to its greater absorption into the circulation.7 Bravecto may be given with food or administered in the same way as other tablets. The dog should be observed to confirm that the tablet is swallowed.3

Is there any dierence in ecacy if a dog chews the tablet, or swallows without chewing? No. A study was conducted which revealed no dierences between dogs which were pilled and dogs which were allowed to chew the tablet.3 When should dogs start treatment with Bravecto?Bravecto can be administered as early as 8 weeks of age. Dogs should weigh at least 2 kg. How soon after giving another flea or tick treatment should I wait before administering Bravecto?Bravecto works systemically with a mechanism of action dierent from spot-on products. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REFERENCE GUIDEHow does Bravecto fit into an annual wellness program for dogs?In many parts of Australia flea treatment is required all year-round. Bravecto is the only oral chew to deliver 3 months flea protection from a single tasty chew. Bravecto therefore fits in easily with a gastrointestinal worming program, where treatment commonly occurs every 3 months.

Annual vaccination visits also provide veterinary clinics the opportunity to dispense clients four doses of Bravecto, along with four gastrointestinal worming doses, providing a whole year’s treatment program for fleas and gastrointestinal worms. Why is Bravecto’s duration of ecacy against brown dog tick shorter than for paralysis tick?Dierent species have dierent sensitivities to fluralaner. In ecacy studies, the paralysis tick demonstrated greater susceptibility to fluralaner than other tick species.3

How often should I administer Bravecto?Bravecto provides 3 months protection against fleas, 4 months protection against paralysis ticks and 8 weeks protection against brown dog ticks. In dogs older than 8 weeks, treatment every 8 weeks has been shown to be well tolerated. How might our clients benefit from Bravecto?• Bravecto is a highly ecacious treatment for fleas. It has a rapid onset of action, killing newly emerged adult fleas before they lay eggs for a whole 3 months. • Bravecto is eective against fipronil-resistant strains of fleas. • Bravecto controls existing paralysis tick infestations within 24 hours and controls paralysis ticks for 4 months. • Bravecto is an easy to administer, tasty oral chew.

How is Bravecto’s duration of ecacy dierent to some other products on the market for flea and paralysis tick control in dogs?Bravecto contains a new active ingredient from a recently developed class of chemicals – it is unique in that it contains fluralaner which has an extended duration of ecacy.*
