French Exchange Programme The French delegates, Mr Lambert , Principal, Mr. Poutrel and Mrs.Mazurié Faculty, along with 20 students from , Lycée Lebrun Coutances, France visited Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, India from October 18, 2018 to October 27, 2018. They visited the Indian Partner School as a part of the ongoing exchange programme. The tour included French students attending classes in school with their respective partners, visit to Lotus Temple Qutub Minar, Akshardham Temple, Delhi Haat, Bangla Sahib, Taj Mahal in Agra and The city Palace, Hawa Mahal, Chowki Dhani in Jaipur. The French students participated not only in yoga, dance, theatre and cooking classes but also in the Tinkering lab activities. They also visited School as part of the Community Connect Programme The students learnt about Indian culture, traditions and lifestyle from Indian families. The programme provided DPSGiites myriad of opportunities to interact with the French students and learn about the pedagogical styles of classroom transaction. A team of six students from classes IX, X and XI participated in a two day Microsoft Students Summit on November 12 and 13, 2018. The students learnt the Office – 365 tool applications for project based learning. The students also gave a presentation on applications of Office 365 tools and shared their stories of success while applying these tools.

French Exchange Programme

NOVEMBER 4, 2018

The District Administration of Ghaziabad has endeavored to shoulder the responsibility of making Ghaziabad

the cleanest city of India combating air pollution and

improving public health. Keeping this in mind, the District

Administration of Ghaziabad took pride in organizing

GHAZIABAD RAAHGIRI- EK SATYAGRAH, a

series of events which will emphasize on disposal of waste

in appropriate manner, importance of planting trees, the

need to improve the quality of air, ill effects of the usage

of plastic, importance of keeping the city clean and green

.

The first of the series of events was organized by a joint

collaboration of ITS and Delhi Public School Ghaziabad

on November 4, 2018 at RDC Ghaziabad.

It not only provided a platform to the society to come together but also awakened and brought awareness

amongst the citizens of Ghaziabad. The purpose of organizing the event was to create a powerful effect on

the environment and bring about a dynamic change.

The project initiated by the District Administration will not only go a long way in achieving the vision of

making the city livable, but also fulfill the long-term goal of making Urban India healthier and happier,

cleaner and greener.

This mega event saw the enthusiastic participation of more than 4000 students and their teachers from about

80 schools and colleges of Ghaziabad.

Students zealously participated in the Collage Making competition and came up with vibrant and thoughtful

pieces of art. A host of street plays (Nukkad Natak) were organized by the participating schools and colleges

highlighting the importance of cleanliness.

The participating students of Swacchta Prehari and Buniyadi Kadam, took out a rally which went around

the place propagating the idea of Swacchta and motivating people to take necessary steps on everyday basis

to move towards a cleaner and a greener tomorrow. They also encouraged people to cast their votes in favour

of Ghaziabad, in the forthcoming election to select the cleanest city in India to make it a winner.

Students came together to plant saplings along the roadside of RDC,

Rajnagar, and vowed to nurture them. The bands from various schools

and colleges enthralled the audience with their mellifluous performances.

Prizes were given away to the worthy winners of various competitions.

Ms Ritu Maheswari, District Magistrate Ghaziabad, exhorted the people

to make Swacchta a way of life. The participating schools and colleges

were encouraged to further this initiative by organizing events along the

same lines. She informed the people that events like this will be

organised in different areas of Ghaziabad either weekly or fortnightly

with themes like no plastic, cleanliness, beti bacho, beti padao, waste

segregation, anti-pollution etc.

Ms Asha Sharma, Mayor, Ghaziabad administered the Swacchta pledge urging the people to maintain the

cleanliness and hygiene of their surroundings to make their city a clean and green city.

In all, the programme was a huge success.

Road Safety

November 12, 2018

“A child who learns about traffic rules and road discipline will grow up to be a law-abiding citizen. The

habit of obeying traffic rules teaches a person a sense of responsibility, empathy for others and respecting

the other person’s right.”

A Special Assembly on Road Safety was held with an aim to make students aware and educate them about

the traffic rules. Students from classes 7 to 10 participated in the programme.

Students understood that traffic rules are meant for their safety and they should abide by them. They also

took a pledge to follow road safety rules and act wisely.

Swacchta Mahotsava 2018

November 19, 2018

The District Administration of Ghaziabad has endeavored to shoulder the responsibility of making

Ghaziabad the cleanest city of India by creating a healthier, cleaner and greener Ghaziabad.

Keeping this in mind, the District Administration of

Ghaziabad in collaboration with Delhi Public School

Ghaziabad, Meerut Road organized a Vishesh Swacchta

Rally – Swacchta Ek Jan Aandolan at Ram Leela

Ground, Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad on November 19, 2018.

A series of events were also held that emphasized on

disposal of waste in appropriate manner, waste

segregation, recycling of waste, importance of keeping

the city clean and green.

This mega event saw the enthusiastic participation of

100 schools and colleges of Ghaziabad.

The participating students of Human Chain(Swacchta- Ek Pahal) and Vishesh Swacchta Rally(Pehli

Awshyakta Nagar ki) went around the place propagating the idea of Swacchta and motivating people to take

necessary steps on everyday basis to move towards a cleaner and a greener tomorrow. An exhibition on the

topic School ke kadam swacchta ki aur was the centre of attraction for all.

Ms Ritu Maheswari, District Magistrate Ghaziabad welcomed the guests and urged the people to maintain

cleanliness. In his address, Mr Ajit Pal Tyagi, MLA,

Murad Nagar, Uttar Pradesh exhorted people to make

Swacchta a way of life. He further reiterated that children

should come forward to sensitize people if they see

anyone littering around. Ms Asha Sharma, Mayor,

Ghaziabad appealed people to make Ghaziabad the

cleanest city. Mr Suresh Khanna, Nagar Vikas Mantri

congratulated the citizens of Ghaziabad for helping the

city climb up the ranking in clean city index. General V.K.

Singh, Member of Parliament, Ghaziabad said that the city

has immensely changed in last four and a half years, but

still a lot needs to be done. He reiterated that the young

brigade should be pro-active and pre-empt in saving

environment from man’s nonchalant attitude. He hoped

that the future citizens will play a great role in propagating

the idea of Swacch Bharat.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr C.P. Singh,

Municipal Commissioner, Ghaziabad.

The message was loud and clear - Swacchta Abhiyaan can

only be successful if each and every Indian takes up this

campaign as his/her own responsibility and joins hands together to make it a triumphant mission.

National Children’s Science Congress (District level) was organized at Delhi

Public School, Rajnagar on November 30, 2018 wherein students from 18

schools participated. Out of 81 innovative projects and ideas, the Reuse

& Recreate project designed by Tiya Verma and Avni Agarwal, IXB was

selected to be presented at State level.

The event provided opportunity and platform for students to present their

innovations from various fields of science.

Ms Sarita Pandey and Ms Seema Khatyian attended a workshop on Positive Thinking at Delhi Public

School, Indirapuram on November 30, 2018. The workshop aimed at development of various skills to remain

positive and cool under all circumstances. The resource persons were Ms Sharmila Raheja amd Ms Kritika

Makkar.

Workshop on Vedic Maths

A workshop on Vedic Mathematics was organized for class VII in the school on 15 November 2018 by The

Hindu, wherein the students learned various techniques and tricks to do calculations faster than ever. The

workshop was conducted with the aim of helping students to develop their mental abilities and overcome

their fear of mathematics. The students were highly engrossed and engaged throughout the workshop and

enjoyed it thoroughly.
