Role of CS as Catalyst in Labour Law Reforms and Corporate Social Responsibility

Message

The profession of Company Secretaries has undergone a 360 degree transformation in the past five decades or so. But what has remained constant is the fact that strengthening the governance framework stands at the core of the roles and responsibilities of these Governance Professionals. And yet what truly sets them apart is their continuous and dedicated efforts to stay ahead and serve the nation.

While on one hand the pandemic has impacted our lives in ways unprecedented, the challenges have provided us with the opportunity to look out for avenues and paths yet to be treaded. The clarion call of the Hon'ble Prime Minister to create a self-reliant and resilient Aatmanirbhar Bharat requires a much broader outlook as well as a holistic approach on our part. With the focus under the stimulus package being laid on a host of sectors and segments, it is imperative that adequate support and professional hand holding is provided to one and all. And it is in these scenarios that the role of Company Secretaries or Governance Professionals comes to the fore.

“Role of CS as catalyst in Labour Law Reforms and other Corporate Laws” as a theme for discussion and deliberation comes across as thoroughly apt not only in the light of altering dynamics of Labour and corporate Laws but the ever changing corporate scenario as well; both of which are required to be analysed, deliberated and understood in tandem to reap the desired results.

I thoroughly commend the Chairman and the Regional Council of the NIRC of ICSI on picking up such a thoughtful theme for the UP State Conference, 2021. As the Conference is being hosted by Noida Chapter, I convey my best wishes to the Chairperson, and the entire Managing Committee of the Noida Chapter for hosting an event at such a grand scale. I am confident that all the participants shall reap maximum benefit through the various sessions of the conference.

My best wishes to all of you for your future endeavours!!!

With warm regards,

(CS Nagendra D. Rao)PresidentThe Institute of Company Secretaries of India
