The Stocks family, owners of Sunshine Marketing and the INT League a watersports event promotion company, have been coming to Crescent Bar for nearly 30 years. At first to compete in the waterski tournaments held in the channel in front of the park. Later Harold & Ellie Stocks purchased a home in the South Park where three generations of Stocks family members enjoyed summer vacations for many years. Unfortunately we lost Harold to cancer in 2007 and Ellie just

last year. Crescent Bar means a lot to our family. We love the community and want to help after a difficult summer.

Sunshine Marketing presented the River Fest concept to Crescent Bar Inc. in the fall of 2014. In November Crescent Bar Inc. approved Sunshine Marketing’s plan to host the first annual Crescent Bar River Fest!

The event organizers have worked closely with Grant County, the PUD, Sheriff’s office and other local government entities to obtain the proper permits and permissions to host River Fest.

Crescent Bar River Fest is supported by many local, regional and national sponsors.

Race RulesOur rules are for your safety and that of others. Please abide by the following sim-ple requests. If you don’t, you may be re-moved from the course and will not receive a refund. Please be aware that in spite of the presence of safety volunteers on the course, you are responsible for your own safety. Please do not attempt this race if you are not fully comfortable and experienced with your equipment and your skills.

Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and leashes: All competitors are required to have a US-CG-approved personal flotation device (PFD) on their person or on their vessel. We recom-mend CO2 cartridge inflatable waist packs. These are less intrusive and don’t catch wind like a deck-top bulky PFD. Any competitor without a PFD will be disqualified and not allowed to compete. There will be no re-funds of entry fee due to disqualification. Al-though, not required, we strongly encourage competitors to wear leashes if strong winds are forecast. A flotilla of safety vessels will be present.

You must carry a whistle.

You must stop to render assistance to any other racer in distress.

Drafting: Drafting rules are in accordance with those followed by many top world-wide races. Only like gender and like board class drafting is allowed. In other words, a 12.6 can only draft behind another 12.6; not a 14

or an unlimited; and a male or female may only draft behind another of the same sex and same board class.

Five Stroke Rule: If you fall you have 5 strokes to get back on your feet and stand up. This rule is in effect so a paddler does not achieve an advantage by not standing up. You must complete the course standing upon your board.

Support Vessels: Having your own support vessel (small motorized craft, canoe or kay-ak) is not recommended, but will be allowed as long as the vessel does not create a wake, obstruct other participants, nor provide aid such as blocking a headwind or towing. Any violation by a support vessel will result in the immediate disqualification of the associated participant, who will be removed from the race. We do encourage friends and families to come out in their watercraft to cheer on the participants.

Start: TBD

Finish: The finish line shall be on shore. Upon arriving back to the beach, the competitor shall dismount the board (which should be left on the shore) and must cross the finish line area to receive a finish time and plac-ing. Competitors must not leave the finish area until their place, name and number, has been recorded by the scorer.

Starter: Shall be responsible for officiating the start and finish of both races. An auto-mated timing system shall also be in place for this year’s race. Results will be immedi-ately available and updated throughout the races.

Course Marshals: Shall be responsible for of-ficiating the races from the water.

Cold Water: Please prepare for immersion and be aware of the dangers of paddling in cold water and weather. A good resource with advice on this topic is right here.

Do you have a VHF radio? They are not re-quired but strongly recommended.Race official channel is VHF 69.Please do not leave your radio turned on and tuned to that channel, to avoid accidentally keying your mic. Emergency channel is VHF 16.
