Sweater weather is coming, and with it begins our slow retreat back to the indoors for the next couple months. But that doesn’t mean we all have to pack it in til spring — far from it! There are heli-copter tours and countless new restaurants to try and tons of prospective places to tour to find #yournewapt. So while those summer swims seem a long way off, we’re ready to embrace all things A/W.

APT #LUXY LAWRENCEVILLE: THE FOUNDRYMICHAEL WURM JRblogger, inspiredbycharm.comNeighborhood: LawrencevilleStyle: Modern cottageHometown: St. Marys, PA
every corner of the apartment is packed with personality. What we love is the mix-and-match of modern and worn; our favorite (super unique) pairing is Michael’s vintage wooden chairs alongside a mid-century pedestal-style table made famous by Knoll designer Eero Saarinen. Or maybe the retro paint-by-number print hung on the back-
When Michael Wurm left the 100+ year old house in St. Mary’s, PA that he operated as a bed and breakfast, he was ready for something totally different. In that regard, what could be more different than a newly constructed
apartment complete with a restored mill bay in one of the city’s buzziest neighborhoods? Not much.
But for someone who built a Pinterest following of over 3.2M based on his personal style and space, his new home needed to be one that was a stylish canvas that he could make his own. That is exactly what he loved about Lawrenceville’s newest addition, The Foundry38: timeless finishes like white subway tile in the kitchen are accented by modern gray-brown flooring and massive windows, offering a style-forward yet neutral palette that he could put his own touch on.
What Michael has been able to do in just a few short months of calling the property home is nothing short of amazing. From the windows filled with plants to swapping out light fixtures to Schoolhouse Electric babes,
splash — honestly, we can’t decide which we love more.
When Michael steps out his door, there is no shortage of style in the new property either. “The lobby is beautiful and a great spot to lounge and write.” The Foundry features a gorgeous courtyard with a resort-like pool, bocce courts, grills and more, plus a gym and exercise studio. A rooftop ‘living room’ even boasts a fire pit and enviable city views. As for the location, it’s steps away from Michael’s Lawrenceville favorites like Round Corner Cantina, Smoke and Green-sinner (where he picks up his weekly flower CSA). So while it couldn’t be any more differ-ent than his B&B days, Michael wouldn’t change a thing.
HOUSE PLANTS 101 We’ve all been there before: you buy a new plant to
brighten up your kitchen or add some fresh air to your bedroom, and despite your best attempts at love and nurtur-ing, it goes rogue and decides to just die on you. What’s the deal? Honestly, plants are finicky. They’re not exactly meant to live indoors, and although they can (and will!) thrive in your apartment; it takes some skill — both in caring for your plant and choosing the right plant in the first place. If you’re on the hunt for a bit of greenery that’s more accustomed to apartment living, here are a few smart options that you can find at some of our favorite plant stores.
Snake Plant. With its tall, slender leaves that inspired the cheeky nickname “Mother-in-law’s tongue”, the snake plant is an undeniably stylish plant option. Simply pop it in a well-draining pot and don’t worry about bright sunlight, because this visually interesting plant can thrive with low light and a forgotten watering or two.
Fiddle Leaf Fig. This interior design darling is somewhat finicky, but it’s well worth the trouble when you see what a statement it makes in your home. This plant only thrives in very sunny spots, but you’ll want to make sure to keep it out of direct sunlight to keep it from scorching.
Cactus. Whether you go big or small, a cactus makes a cool, Southwest-ern-inspired statement in the home. Keep yours in a well-draining pot in a cactus-specific potting mix, and only water once every few weeks.
Philodendron / Pothos. Perhaps the easiest houseplant to care for, this low-maintenance beauty requires a bit less sunlight and can easily bounce back if you miss a watering. Simply plant it in a pot with drainage holes and water when the soil becomes dry.
Aloe. This hardy succulent can withstand a bit of forgetfulness, so long as it has plenty of bright sunlight and the appropriate well-draining potting mix.

New to town, or just a new neighborhood? If you haven’t triedtransit before maybe now is the time. Port Authority has convenientand frequent service to and from the urban areas of Pittsburgh.
East Liberty is the heart of the East End’s transit service. Many Port Authority bus routes use the East Busway to bypasslocal traffic including the P1 and P3 from East Liberty’s buswaystation which offer quick rides to Downtown and Oakland.Various other routes have stops on Penn Ave. and serve justabout anywhere in the East End of the city.
Living Downtown? You CAN get anywhere from here. You can catch a bus or T to almost anywhere in AlleghenyCounty. Groceries in the Strip District, take the 88. For all theflavor of Lawrenceville the 91 works. Nearly all of Port Authority's100 routes travel in and out of Downtown.
