November 2015 Edition 37 Week 7 Term 4
Last Wednesday Franklin students gathered in front of our
flag pole area for our Remembrance Day service. Our school prefects Kade,
Ethan, Abbey and
Mackenzie carried
out the official order of service, which
included a
Remembrance Day poem, a history of
Remembrance Day,
the Ode, laying of the wreath and the
official minute’s
silence. The student
body donated a total of $251.45 towards the Pozières French-Australian Schools Project. Thank you, Franklin!
HEIDI HODEO’S CIRCUS RODEO
WEDNESDAY 18TH
NOVEMBER, Stage One performance. This will replace the performance in
Wagga last term. For all students who attended the Wagga excursion this cost has been covered. If
your child did not attend the Wagga
excursion last term and would like to
attend this performance the cost will be $4.50.
Heidi Hodeo’s Circus Rodeo follows in
the traditions of the early travelling circuses and rodeos, but with an
excitingly different spin… HULA
HOOPS!
GHANA BEAT MY DRUM Incorporates audience participation, singing, dancing and drumming and leaves audiences
feeling exhilarated and inspired as
well as enlightened in the ways and culture of Africa and especially
Ghana. Jonas teaches students
words from the local languages, Ga
Tui Mzema and Effutu and with their newly learnt words Jonas gets the entire audience
participating in traditional call and response songs.

While Moving in Mathematics’ is a program designed to enhance mathematics lessons through mixing fundamental
movement skills with mental arithmetic. These exciting games allow students to be running, hopping, skipping,
jumping, throwing, kicking, etc whilst at the same time practising maths concepts learnt in class. Research has proven
that by keeping the body moving while learning enhances cognitive function and improves memory. One of the main
aims of this program is to get students to enjoy learning mathematics, in a fun and interactive way. 5G has been trialling
this program and all students have reported positive outcomes, saying they are enjoying the physical activity and they
are learning something at the same time. Levels of engagement in mathematics have also improved as a result and we
are excited to continue this program.
Tumut Schools As Community Centres As an extension from last week, we will be doing activities which look at who is in our family, and
what interests our children as individuals. We will be making faces and a collage of family portraits.
Call Krystle on 6947 6961 or come to the SaCC building to find out more! If you can, please bring along a piece of fruit for fruit time!!

In 3/4R this week, we have been having a lot of fun
conducting a range of experiments for our Science unit
“Material World”. We have been testing a range of things
such as how quickly different materials decompose, how
stretch or rigid materials are and the absorbency level of a
variety of materials.
3/4R students this week have
also been thinking outside of the
box during mathematics lessons,
creating their own set of
outdoor activities, combining
mathematics and physical
activity, to practice their
Multiplication skills.
