Welcome

With more than 5GW of offshore wind capacity installed or under construction, the UK is set to remain the largest market in the world for the next decade. France is making strides towards exploiting its own marine renewable energy resources, with its world leading engineering and energy operators active across the range of technologies, from floating foundations to tidal turbines.

Do not hesitate to approach a member of the UKTI team if you have any questions about offshore wind or tidal energy on either side of the Channel. We hope you have a very productive and informative day at the British Ambassador’s Residence.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is delighted to welcome you to the 4th Franco-British Offshore Wind & Tidal Business event.

The objective is to bring together French and British supply chain companies, developers and turbine manufacturers to discuss potential partnerships and upcoming opportunities in the UK and French offshore wind and tidal sectors.

The European Commission and governments across Europe have recently reaffirmed their support and engagement for Europe to win the global race developing marine renewable energies. In the face of climate change and energy security concerns, increasing deployment and bringing down cost in offshore wind and moving towards industrialisation and commercialisation in tidal energy is key, and collaboration is the path to a successful European industry.

The Offshore Wind Investment Organisation (OWIO) The Offshore Wind Investment Organisation (OWIO) has been established within UK Trade & Investment as a key part of delivering the Government’s Industrial Strategy. OWIO’s objective is to promote a competitive, capable and innovative UK supply chain to supply offshore wind projects both in the UK and internationally.

OWIO offers dedicated support to potential UK investors, and can support your company to export from a UK base to markets in Northern Europe and globally.

• Market insight into the UK and its export markets

UK Trade & InvestmentWith professional advisers both within the UK and across more than 100 international markets, UK Trade & Investment is the Government Department that helps UK-based companies succeed in the global economy and assists overseas companies to bring their high-quality investment to the UK.


• Links to UK Government financial support: For example support for capital investment in manufacturing, training of staff, research and development, and UK Export Finance
