What is fracking?
Timeline of Fracking in New York • 1940s: The Dawn of Fracking
• 2010: The state legislature passes a bill placing a moratorium on all fracking. Governor Patterson vetoes the bill, and issues a 1 year moratorium on horizontal but not vertical fracking
• 2011: Governor Cuomo takes office, and extends the moratorium pending a review by his Health Commissioner on the health impacts of fracking
• The review is ongoing
