I - SYSTEM PRESENTATION
Description
e-ULTRAMIX® is a next generation system designed to locally or remotely electronical-ly configure the temperature of the mixed water in a collective installation.
This electronic system is fitted with a smart controller used to program thermal disin-fection cycles automatically, safely and securely, in order to prevent any risks of legio-nellosis within the domestic hot water installation. The system records all parameters concerning the disinfection process, as well as the various alerts and alarms, providing genuine health tracking of the installation.
The history can be transferred to a micro SD on which all data will have been recorded, or remotely using a connection to a Building Management System (MODBUS protocol) via the RS485 interface provided.
e-ULTRAMIX® is, amongst other things, the only evolutive system on the market. It can be used on a new installation or on an installation already fitted with an ULTRAMIX® mixing valve by simply adding an e-Kit.
Safety instructions
•Before starting to install, commission and maintain the e-ULTRAMIX® system, make sure you have read and understood the detailed instructions contained in this document.
You will see this symbol when reading this manual: it is there to draw your attention to the instruction that must IMPERATIVELY be followed to avoid damage.
•The e-ULTRAMIX® system must be installed and configured by a professional, complying with regulations, health rules or legislation applicable in the country it is installed in.
•Make sure that all your installation’s connections are watertight.
As the programming system is electrically powered, there is a risk of electric shocks if safety rules are not followed. Cut off the electricity supply before carrying
out any work.
Make sure you correctly configure your e-ULTRAMIX® system (especially the temperature limits) according to your installation’s technical specifications.
Important elements
Hot water temperature must not be in excess of 85°C to avoid the premature ageing of the appliance and installation.

III - OPERATING PRINCIPLES
FunctionsThe e-ULTRAMIX® has different functions to provide effective domestic hot water instal-lation management and maintenance.
• Mixed water distribution: The e-ULTRAMIX® supplies mixed water at a constant tempe-rature, whatever the installation flow rate or pressure variations. It thereby guarantees safety by providing a maintained safe and suitable temperature. Using the electric actua-tor, the controller sends the set point temperature the mixing valve must provide using the probe placed on the mixed water outlet. The supplied mixed water T° is displayed on the system screen. The mixed water set point temperature can be configured (using the controller) in 1 °C steps.
• Disinfection : the e-ULTRAMIX®’s built-in timer is used to program thermal disinfection cycles. Disinfection is carried out by increasing the water temperature to a certain value for a predefined period of time. The return probe is used to measure the temperature reached in all or part of the network (it can be installed at a suitable location on the recirculation loop).
• Drainage (depending on your installation): this phase follows on automatically from the disinfection phase so that the water temperature quickly returns to normal conditions of use. It can also be programmed to drain the mixed water production system of possible residue.

Installing an e-Kit (concerns an existing ULTRAMIX® installation)
1) Close the cold water, hot water and mixed water valves.2) Remove the graduated knob.3) Remove the cartridge from the existing ULTRAMIX® mixing valve (see your ULTRA-MIX® original manual or view our "Rinsing/Disinfection" video by scanning the QR Code on page 28).4) Install the original flushing kit, turn over the ULTRAMIX® cartridge and fix it using the screws provided (recommended step).
Before any flushing operations, you must shut the domestic hot water distribution.
5) Carry out the flushing operation (open the installation water supply).6) Close the cold water, hot water and mixed water valves.7) Remove the cartridge once the rinsing is completed8) Install the e-cartridge (see page 7; delivered with the e-Kit) on the mixing valve.9) Refer to step 12 in the "Assembling an e-ULTRAMIX®" section.
Installing an e-ULTRAMIX® (on a new installation)
Hydraulic connections
The mixing valve sizing (choice of flow rate) must comply with the given technical criteria (pages 5 and 6). The mixing valve nominal diameter must be identical to the
supply tube diameter and to the mixed water outlet tube diameter (the use of a size immediately higher or lower is tolerated). You can use the specific calculation software available on our web site to select the appropriate mixing valve.1) Mark the location of the device on the wall.2) Position the device.3) Connect the hot water inlet to the mixer valve connector with a red spot and the cold water inlet to the mixing valve connector with a blue spot.4) Connect the mixed water outlet (the mixed water outlet must be at the top of the device).5) Provide an accessible stopcock on each pipe.
Rinsing and water supply
it is imperative to rinse the mixing valve and piping. Before any rinsing operations, you must shut the domestic hot water distribution.
6) Remove the mixing valve e-cartridge.7) Replace it with the rinsing kit (see page 7) included in the box.8) Open the water supply to rinse the installation.9) Close the cold water, hot water and mixed water valves.10) Remove the rinsing kit.11) Refit the e-Cartridge in the mixer valve body.

Fitting the electric actuator to the mixing valve:
12) Remove the white plastic protection from the e-Cartridge.
Keep it for manual control.
13) Remove the black cap from the e-Cartridge (see page 7) and screw on the mixed water temperature probe (cable identification E).
14) Connect the cables (marked E and C ) by clipping the RJ connectors onto the actua-tor. This must be completed before screwing the actuator onto the e-Cartridge.
15) Screw the actuator onto the e-Cartridge.
Manually screw the floating nut until it stops.
16) At this stage it is possible to turn on the water supply.
IInstallation and connection of the controller:
Provide a waterproof cabinet according the room in which the system is installed in order to avoid any spraying water or damp or corrosive atmosphere.
17) Unscrew and remove the controller cover and fix it to the wall.
18) Connect the socket (red C) to the controller.
19) Connect the socket (blue D) to the controller and position the external probe on the pipe (see hydraulic diagram on page 11) using aluminium adhesive tape.Option: if probe D is not connected, the mixed water probe E (green) is used for the validation of thermal disinfection.
Connection to the relays (depending on the installation):
20) Connection of the alarm relay (figure page 14).
21) Connection of the circulator relay:
- Case of an installation with a recirculation loop (figure page 14). If the circulator is managed by an existing timer, wire the circulator relay in parallel to the timer.
- Case of an installation without a recirculation loop (figure page 14). Connect the circulator activation relay to the drainage valve power supply. In this specific case, the installation does not have a circulator.
22) Connect the hot water production relay if there is a need to increase the hot water production temperature for thermal disinfection cycles (figure page 14).
23) Connecting the drain relay:
- Case of an installation with a recirculation loop (figure page 14). Connect the drain relay to the drainage valve power supply.
- Case of an installation without a recirculation loop. The relay is not used, the drainage valve is activated by the circulator relay (see step 21 above).

Legionella protectionLegionella bacteria (occur naturally in water and their presence is a serious hazard to public health. Contamination is spread through inhalation as the bacteria proliferate when the hot water temperature is too low and/or stagnates inside the system . Their numbers can also be
boosted by sedimentation and scaling in pipes. The bacteria are destroyed whenever the water temperature reaches 60 °C
(this occurs within +/- 30 minutes).
