This is the Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the first two parables in the Gospel today (Matt 13:44-46) the men sold everything they had to acquire either the treasure or the pearl. Searching for

Jesus and the kingdom of heaven means we face choices and have to make decisions, sometimes hard decisions that we would prefer not to have to make. There will be passing treasures that in the short-term are tempting but don’t offer us the happiness we really want. In the first reading Solomon passed up on fleeting treasures in order to have God’s wisdom in order to discern between good and evil (1 Kings 3:5,7-12). There is the real treasure, Jesus, for whom we sometimes carry our cross in order to find Him, who is the treasure who gives us real happiness. By carrying our cross well we will discover a pearl inside us, and that pearl is Jesus.

With much love and affection, I remain

Fr. Jason Mouton St. Martin de Tours, Pray for Us!

A light snack will be served and there will be play time and also nap time for kids. Safe Environment will be required for all teachers. If this would be of interest to families, please call to express said. More information as to specifics will be forthcoming as we get a better idea of interest. Old Historic Museum. It is my desire to do some minimal work to get this building up and running again and reopened to parishioners and visitors from near and far. However, I need your help both physically in the clean-up and financially for either the replacement or changing of the front porch boards that are rotting. Please give prayerful consideration. Let’s return St. Martin de Tours to its former prominence. Also if you have historic items that were previously placed in the museum, please consider returning so that visitors may be edified by such. Pictures too that were associates, perhaps school graduates’ photos (NOT individuals but, one composite of all), Pictures of former nuns that served here, etc. I need YOUR input and help. This is YOUR parish and it is a family with a beautiful faith. Let’s give the Lord our thanks and our visitors far and wide a desire to come to visit our Historic Church and Buildings. Also, if we can begin some of these projects, we can open the parish rectory for tours periodically. It’s YOUR home, not mine (within understanding that sometimes rectory will be closed for privacy J). All of this will be worked out in time.

Pro-Life Corner!

For all those nearing death: That their faith may grow ever

stronger, as they prepare in hope to share eternal life with Christ; We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.

Marriage Tips! St. Maria Goretti was martyred for her fidelity to being pure for Christ. How can you purify your own heart? Pray for the grace to live out purity in your marriage. The key to a happy marriage is putting God first. Don’t let the

distraction of everyday life lead your away from prayer. We often take the ones we love for granted on small things. Be courteous! Always say ‘please, thank you’ to your spouse even for small things….like making dinner or taking out the garbage. Give the one you love the same common courtesy you give to a stranger.

Mass Time Change Effective Sunday, August 2nd, the 10a.m. Mass will be changed to 11:00a.m. The rational for this is that our Confirmation program will be

held from 9-11a.m. with students attending the 11a.m. Mass after and volunteer teachers being able to have their Sunday evenings for family gatherings. Thanks for your understanding. And I personally believe that students will appreciate this as they will have their Sunday afternoon free before School on Monday (I know I would).

ALTAR SERVER OUTING / GO-KART RANCH 6/26/2020

Fr. Mouton treated the St. Martin de Tours Altar Servers for a fun afternoon and pizza at the Go-Kart Ranch. We appreciate all of our Altar Servers. Thank You!

Shortly the water fountain between the

church and rectory will be torn down. To

replace it would cost between $85,000. - $100,000. Therefore I

have decided to go with the recommendation of our staff member and carpenter, Ed Horn, to proceed with the construction of a large grotto in its place

dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This project will cost about $35,000.00. If there

is an individual or family/families who would like to make a donation to this

project in memory of a deceased loved one which will stand for many, many years, please contact our parish office? Again, please give prayerful consideration to the

continued beautification of our parish grounds, church, and rectory. This legacy

will stand for many, many years.

For those who are interested we will have our “Family Fun

Day” on the church and rectory lawn on Sunday, October 18th following the 11a.m. Mass. Please bring your own tents and lawn chairs, masks if mingling with others, hand sanitizers, etc. We have all been cooped up these many months and want to socialize but remember social distancing is still required. A former parishioner of mine, Marshall Landry, will be selling Pork Steak Sandwiches, Hamburgers, and Funnel Cakes. Please join your extended St. Martin de Tours Family for a wonderful day of fellowship and community.

Prayer for Coronavirus Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the

wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those al-ready afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

“We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” – St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
