Phi Theta Kappa MissionThe purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Phi Theta Kappas mission has two parts the first is to recognize and encourage scholarship on the two year college campus. You will have many students accept membership into Phi Theta Kappa with no intention of getting involved in activitiesthey just want the recognitionand thats OK, because thats our mission.

The second part of our mission is to provide opportunities for leadership development, service learning and scholarly fellowshipand thats where youll see growth in student development.2Phi Theta Kappa Structure~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~LocalRegionalInternationalOur structure consists of Chapters on the local level we have about 1250 chaptersRegions we have 29 regionseach has a regional coordinator, elects regional officers, and hosts regional eventsInternational we are in nine countries (US, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, British Virgin Islands, Republic of Palau, and Peru). 3BenefitsCompetitive EdgeMy.ptk.org CollegeFish.orgLeadership Roles Region/International ScholarshipsBeing a Phi Theta Kappa member has a lot of benefits. Many students have told me they have gained confidence, learned better public speaking skills, traveled to new places, met many new friends all as a result of their membership.

In addition, we have developed a personal professional development plan for individual students called Competitive Edge. Great leadership training!Members are able to use CollegeFish.org transfer preparation guide and scholarship finder. We encourage members to seek leadership roles as chapter officers, regional officers and to even run for International office. And, there are many scholarships available to Phi Theta Kappa members only.

Guideline to ensure excellenceCompletely on-lineCollege ProjectRecognition guaranteed! The Five Star chapter development plan is the best way to get your chapter engaged in society programs, to gain administrative support through a college project, to complete an Honors in Action project and to be recognized for all your hard work.

So check out the requirements and go on-line and start reaching for the Stars!!11Honors in ActionHonors Study Topic Combines Hallmarks into one HiA ProjectScholarshipLeadershipServiceFellowship

Phi Theta Kappa is NOT a service club, a fraternity or a sorority! We ARE an HONORS SOCIETY. Therefore, we want one project to be an Honors in Action Project. HiA starts with Scholarship based on the Honors Study Topic (Right now were studying The Culture of Competition). It then combines the other Hallmarks of Leadership, Service, and Fellowship into one in-depth project.
