Introduction
General objectives:Main objective is to use the development of a
semantic Grid-based application with distributed access to heterogeneous resources in real system (Satellite Mission environment).
Utilization of processes that behave as agents allows to automate most of the tasks involved in the management of the information that is saved in and retrieved from a database.

Technical aspects
Ontogrid Functionality applied to Satellite Mission case:Adapted to a subset of QUARC (Quality analysis of
data)Focuses in:
• Input in Data Model (events, processes, annotations)• Output through:
Objects (Timelines, filters)Sentences: management timelines and filters
• Presentation: Gantt, Plot XY or tables
14Review Meeting - Delft, 11-13 April 2005

Design Drivers:Application is conceived to provide a prototype
which is able to be adapted to the evolving needs of the Quality Analysis and Calibration activities without system-reengineering.
Allows ingestion and reporting plug-ins at the corresponding interfaces for monitoring new gauges.
Core system, that is mission independent, can be re-used for different Earth Observation Missions (very similar needs and requirements).
Ontogrid will be developed using standards tools for development and implementation

Technical aspects
Business Processes: All business processes are in charge of monitor and control of a satellite or a set of satellites for getting valuable data (products) from the instruments. These data justifies the mission of the satellite.
Conceptual definitions:• Satellite is a hardware and software equipment with a concrete
mission.• Instrument is a hardware and software component, which allows
making measures of specific type. • Mission is the objective of any element, in this case of the satellite (i.e.
Envisat data supports earth science research and allows monitoring of the evolution of environmental and climatic changes.
• Products or product files are files generated by an instrument directly (level 0) or processed (level 1b/level2) after being generated by an instrument.

Dissemination
Contact with potential users: The person responsible for the QUARC project (Quality Analysis application for Satellite data) in the European Space Agency (ESA-ESRIN) has been informed about the development of the use case for Satellite Missions. Other ESA groups could be interested in the project.
Dissemination of the project: OntoGrid information is present at the Deimos company website (http://www.deimos-space.com/Eng/ref_gss.html) with an additional link to the OntoGrid portal for further details.

Conclusions
Contact with potential users has shown that:General acceptance for use of new Information Technologies
in a bussines environment should come from actual and inmediate benefits (i.e. time/money saving).
Hard-to-understand technology concepts should be kept away from the user. Difficult concepts better to stay within the system.
Potential users feel reluctant to new terminology, specially when they have some equivalence with their particular (technical) vocabulary. Use of this vocabulary, finding connections with new OntoGrid concepts, enhances enormously their interest.
Very difficult to change working habits in a specific professional community (interfaces, etc.). Those parts probably not to be changed drastically.
30Review Meeting - Delft, 11-13 April 2005
Conclusions
Open points:In order to progress in the development of the
application to the Satellite Mission use case it is necessary to define clearly the scope of those specific activities required to be implemented in this particular frame, alongside with the activities covered in the general scheme.
Detailed architecture applicable to the use cases should be frozen at least 4 months before software delivery.
