November Morning Reflec on – Monday, Nov. 13 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM, followed by refreshments, announcements and the reflec on at 10:30 AM. Fr. Ma hew Bean will deliver the Reflec on on the life of St. Bernade e and the appari ons of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Advent Retreat - Saturday, December 2 – St. Michael Catholic Church will host the annual Advent Retreat, with our own Fr. Jason Chris an as the moderator. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, followed by the Advent Reflec on, Exposi on of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hour, Confession and Benedic on. At 12:30 PM there will be a break for lunch, followed by a second reflec on at 1:30 PM, group discussion from 2:30pm and closing at 3:30pm.

You" which paints the epic narra ve of Mary’s life. This program does not just tell of her life in Scripture. It begins before the dawn of me, when she was only an eternal thought in the mind of God, and extends
into today. Just as Christ lives on through His Church, Mary lives on as the Mother of the Church. In a ba le between the Angel who said No, and the woman who
said Yes, you will see your mother intervening at pivotal periods in history to draw us back to her Son,

Petición Padre, que nuestro testimonio de cristianos sea coherente entre lo que decimos y predicamos y lo que en realidad ponemos en práctica.
Medita lo que Dios te dice en el Evangelio
Qué actitud tengo ante los demás.
En el texto del Evangelio de hoy, Jesús condena la incoherencia y la falta de sinceridad en la relación con Dios y con el prójimo. Está hablando contra la hipocresía tanto de los escribas y los fariseos de aquel tiempo como de nosotros, hoy. El error básico: dicen y no hacen. Jesús se dirige a la multitud y hace ver la incoherencia entre palabra y práctica. Hablan y no practican. A pesar de todo, Jesús reconoce la autoridad y el conocimiento de los escribas. Están sentados en la cátedra de Moisés. Por esto, haced y observad todo lo que os digan. Pero no imitéis su conducta, porque dicen y no hacen. Jesús enumera varios puntos que revelan una incoherencia: Algunos escribas y fariseos imponen leyes pesadas a la gente. Conocían bien las leyes, pero no las practicaban, ni usaban su conocimiento para aliviar la carga de la gente. Hacían todo para ser vistos y elogiados, usaban túnicas especiales para la oración, les gustaba ocupar sitios importantes y ser saludados en la plaza pública. Querían ser llamados ¡“Maestro”¡ Representaban un tipo de comunidad que mantenía, legitimaba y
alimentaba las diferencias de clase y de posición social. Legitimaba los privilegios de los grandes y la posición inferior de los pequeños. Ahora, si hay una cosa que a Jesús no le gusta son las apariencias que engañan.
¿Cómo combatir esta incoherencia? ¿Cómo debe ser una comunidad cristiana? Todos los trabajos y responsabilidades de la ida en común deben ser asumidos como un servicio: El mayor entre vosotros será vuestro servidor. A nadie hay que llamar maestro (rabino), ni padre, ni guía. Pues la comunidad de Jesús debe mantener, legitimar, alimentar no las diferencias, sino la fraternidad. Ésta es la ley primordial: Ustedes son hermanos y hermanas. La fraternidad nace de la experiencia de que Dios es Padre, y que hace de todos nosotros hermanos y hermanas. Pues, el que se ensalce será humillado, y el que se humille será ensalzado.
Rabino, guía, maestro, padre. Son los cuatro títulos que Jesús no permite que la gente use. Y sin embargo, hoy en la Iglesia, los sacerdotes son llamados «padre». Muchos estudian en las universidades de la Iglesia y obtienen el título de «Doctor» (maestro). Mucha gente tiene dirección espiritual y se aconseja con las personas que son llamadas «directores espirituales» (guía). Lo que importa es que se tenga en cuenta el motivo que llevó a Jesús a prohibir el uso de estos títulos. Si son usados para que una persona se afirme en una posición de autoridad y de poder, de vanidad y egoísmo… son mal usados y esta persona se
merece la crítica de Jesús. Si son usados para alimentar la fraternidad y el servicio y para profundizar en ellos, no son criticados por Jesús.
Todo esto nos puede llevar a plantearnos preguntas como éstas: ¿Cuáles son las motivaciones que tengo para vivir y trabajar en la Iglesia, en la comunidad, en mi trabajo? ¿Cuál es mi actitud? ¿Servicio, amor o presunción, dominación? ¿Cómo la comunidad, mis amigos, familiares, compañeros me ayudan a corregir y mejorar mis motivaciones?
«Decía san Francisco a sus hermanos: Predicad siempre el Evangelio y, si fuera necesario, también con las palabras. No hay testimonio sin una vida coherente. Hoy no se necesita tanto maestros, sino testigos valientes, convencidos y convincentes, testigos que no se avergüencen del Nombre de Cristo y de su Cruz ni ante leones rugientes ni ante las potencias de este mundo.» Reflexión Claras y duras son las palabras de Nuestro Señor en este pasaje. Su estilo transparente puede hacernos sentir algo "incómodos" y es que, no habrá en la historia de la humanidad hombre tan coherente como lo fue Jesús, el único. Que nos puede advertir acerca de la hipocresía con justa razón. ¡Cuántas veces nos muestra a lo largo de los Evangelios su descontento con los hipócritas! ¡Cuántas veces nos exhorta a no ser como ellos! Y es que el Señor sabe muy bien cuánto daño hace la hipocresía en nuestro trabajo con los demás, y cuántas almas permanecen cerradas al amor de Dios porque no ven en nuestro testimonio de cristianos una coherencia entre lo que decimos y predicamos y lo que en realidad ponemos en práctica.
"Haced y cumplid lo que os digan, pero no hagáis lo que hacen..." ¡Qué actual es esta recomendación que nos da el Señor! ¡Cuánto nos cuesta a los soberbios aceptar estas palabras! ¿Por qué desoímos tantas veces lo que el Señor nos pide a través de su Palabra? ¿No será para justificarnos en la incoherencia de los demás? "No juzguéis y no seréis juzgados" dice el Señor. Mejor sería que pusiéramos en práctica todo lo que el Señor nos va pidiendo sin esperar nada de los demás, sin olvidar que el instrumento es pequeño.
Así pues, levantemos la mirada del horizonte y miremos en vertical, porque es de Dios y para Dios todo en nuestra vida. No justifiquemos nuestros errores en los errores de los demás, pues nuestro único modelo debe ser Jesús, en Él debemos fijar todas nuestras metas. Ante Él la verdad y la autenticidad permanecen, todo lo demás es desechado. Continúa el pasaje: “uno sólo es vuestro Padre, el del cielo." Dice la canción: "¡Dios es mi Padre, qué feliz soy!"
Realmente es así de sencillo y de maravilloso, pero, ¿cuándo vamos a creer del todo estas palabras? ¿cuándo vamos a interiorizarlas y a asumir la grandeza de este hecho? Porque si Dios es mi Padre, me conoce totalmente, me cuida, se preocupa por mí, le interesa lo que a mí me interesa, vela por mi vida, por mi bien, me da lo que necesito... Con Jesús descubrimos que Dios no es un Padre autoritario ni justiciero, sino amoroso y misericordioso que me ha amado y me ha creado y, así, mi vida cobra un sentido, mi vida no es un absurdo. Podemos llegar aún más lejos: si Dios es mi Padre, entonces Él tiene que encontrar en mí signos de que yo soy su hijo, pues los padres y los hijos se parecen.
Propósito Que Dios sea todo en nuestra vida. No justifiquemos nuestros errores en los errores de los demás.
Diálogo con Cristo Jesús mío, meditando tu Evangelio, me doy cuenta de que frecuentemente me
preocupo de cosas sin importancia, olvidando lo que debe ser mi principal
preocupación: corresponder a tu amor. Mi fe no se manifiesta en ritos o
devociones, sino en mis actos concretos de amor a Dios y a los demás.
Ayúdame, dame tu gracia, para que sepa amar, dejando a un lado toda vanidad
y deseo de aparecer.
