ABOUT WESLEY PLACE ON HONEYSUCKLE Wesley Manor has been a respected, hometown name in Dothan for nearly five decades. Generations of families have entrusted their loved ones to our excellent care and faith-based loving kindness and referred us to their friends. Now, as we begin a new era with a new name—Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, we’re excited to continue our feel-like-family legacy in a place that’s modernized, fresh and innovative. Extensive community-wide renovations, the addition of The Rehab Inn and a new model of care encourage a lifestyle as special as each individual who lives here. As the first community in Alabama to transition to the innovative household model, we are changing the way people experience all levels of care-enhanced living. ABOUT THE FOUNTAIN OF LOVE The Fountain of Love is a financial assistance program for residents living at one of five Methodist Home care communities (including Wesley Place on Honeysuckle). As a residents nears the end of their own savings and other financial resources, it can be a very embarrassing, frightening and stressful situation. The Fountain of Love is there to partner with residents and their families to provide assurance that their loved one will not need to leave the place they call ‘home’. The assistance distributed is confidential, and fills the gap between income and care charges. The resident’s care needs continue with dignity and without interruption. Of the $439,204 distributed this past fiscal year, $78,593 was distributed to residents at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. And the demands on the Fountain of Love program continue to grow. Here are the totals distributed through the Fountain of Love during the past four fiscal years: 7/2018 – 6/2019 - $439,204.00 7/2017 – 6/2018 - $421,874.87 7/2016 – 6/2017 - $411,788.29 7/2015 – 6/2016 - $363,230.86

LET’S GET STARTED! How can you help? Become a Champion for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle by creating a charitable Fundraiser page for #GivingTuesday and raise money for the Fountain of Love program! Our campaign uses MightyCause, a platform that has already been set up to receive gifts for The Fountain of Love for Methodist Homes (for the Aging – our official 501(c)(3) designation). Follow these step and keep the momentum up, and exceed your fundraising goals.

Fundraising Tips! Set a Goal – We recommend setting a personal fundraising goal of at least $100 toward providing peace and assurance to a resident in need at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. You may choose to raise more or less, depending on your situation and time commitment! Make a Simple Plan to Reach Your Goal – (Sample, based on $100 goal)

1. Make a personal donation $10 2. Ask 2 family members to match your donation $20 3. Ask 3 friends on Facebook to donate $10 $30 4. Ask 3 friends to donate $10 $30 5. Ask 1 co-worker to donate $10 $10

Make it Social! – Spread the word about your WPH Fountain of Love #GivingTuesday fundraiser on your social media platforms. See the section on Social Media Messaging for samples you can broadcast to your networks. Create a Challenge – Enlist several others to become Champions as well and create their own charitable Fundraiser page for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle and the Fountain of Love. Give each of them a copy of this participant guide. Who recruited the most donors?! Who raised the most money?!

Every Penny Counts – Get a big jar and place it on your desk at work and give people the opportunity to give small change that helps Wesley Place on Honeysuckle in a big way for #GivingTuesday. Start this collection early and on #GivingTuesday, total up the change in the jar, and make a lump sum donation in that amount on your fundraising platform for #GivingTuesday so that this gift will be added toward your total fundraising! CHECKLIST CALENDAR – A sample guide - you can start any time you wish! 4 to 5 Weeks before #GivingTuesday (Around November 1-11) o Build your Fundraiser page. Include photos and why you are raising

funds for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle’s Fountain of Love program. o If you want to issue a Challenge, now is the time to challenge others to

raise funds for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle’s Fountain of Love program, too, by creating their own Fundraiser on MightyCause.com. Simply give each of your participants a copy of this participant guide!

o Set up your collection jar for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle and let your co-workers know what you are doing and why.

3 Weeks before #GivingTuesday (Around November 12-18) o Ask your potential donors if any of their companies offer matching

gifts. Those who do have the potential to multiply their gift! They will need to obtain a copy of and follow their company matching program guidelines to ensure participation.

2 Weeks before #Giving Tuesday (Beginning November 19) o Begin asking for gifts right away! MightyCause.com will count all gifts

received on or after November 19 until midnight on December 3 toward your #GivingTuesday campaign totals!

o Post the link to your Fundraiser page on all your social media networks and let them know you’re page can now accept #GivingTuesday gifts for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle.

o If you’ve created a Challenge, thank your participants and consider posting their current standings to encourage them toward their own fundraising goals for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle!

1 Week before #GivingTuesday (Around November 26-December 3) o Temporarily change your social media banners and profile photos as a

visual to announce your support of Wesley Place on Honeysuckle from now until #GivingTuesday on December 3, 2019. (See Social Media Messaging section)

On #GivingTuedsay (December 3!) o Don’t forget to make your own personal gift for your Wesley Place on

Honeysuckle fundraiser. o Post your Fundraiser to your social media pages at least 3 times

throughout the day: once in the morning, once in the early afternoon, and once in the evening to try and catch friends with varying social media habits.

o Post updates to your Fundraiser and thank people who donate throughout the day. If you created a Challenge, post updates on your challenge participant results several times throughout the day.

Within 1 Week after #GivingTuesday (Around December 4-10) o Thank each and every donor and challenge participant by email,

messaging, or posting as appropriate. Remind each of them of the impact their gift makes on the life of someone in need at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle.

HOW TO SIGN UP TO DONATE AND PROMOTE Thank you for signing up to be a champion for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle’s Fountain of Love! We are so happy to have you on our #GivingTuesday fundraising team! Follow these instructions below to create your own MightyCause Fundraiser page that will tie gifts directly to the Fountain of Love (Methodist Home for the Aging) and be counted for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle!

1. Using Chrome, Safari or Firefox browser (not Internet Explorer), go to https://www.mightycause.com/. Click on the circle button at the top of the home page that contains a head and shoulders.

2. If this is your first time to create a Fundraiser with MightyCause, you will be prompted to sign up – it’s FREE and EASY. Simply provide an email address and follow the prompts to create a password.

3. Now that you’re logged in, click on Start Fundraising.

4. Click or hover over the PLUS sign again to open the drop-down menu and select “Start A Fundraiser”.

5. Leave the default selection as ‘Nonprofit Organization’ and begin typing in the SELECT A CAUSE section “Methodist Home for the Aging”. You may have to type the whole name to get the correct icon to appear. Select the one with the picture icon and ID#63-0376518.

6. Begin building your Fundraiser page! Try to use Wesley Place on Honeysuckle or WPH somewhere in the title of your Fundraiser so that we will be able to easily direct your gifts to Wesley Place on Honeysuckle’s Fountain of Love Fund. But don’t worry! If we are in doubt, we will reach out so that every penny you raise goes to Wesley Place on Honeysuckle! Use your own pictures, or feel free to use any of our photos and logos to build your page, set your goal, and tell a story – maybe tell people why you are raising funds for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, or about Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, or about the Fountain of Love story – whatever you choose! Follow the prompts to complete the required sections of your fundraiser page.

7. Then PUBLISH your Fundraiser and share the link by email and social

media so that people can find it and contribute easily and securely online for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle!

SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGING Here are some samples of posts that may help you be successful with your Fundraiser! Pay attention to each social media platform’s character limits and recommendations, such as 280 character limit on Tweets and Facebook’s recommended “shorter is better” for the most engaging posts. Of course, there are virtually no limits on email, but still, people’s attention spans are pretty short. Most will support you because of YOU and YOUR passion for Wesley Place on Honeysuckle! o I am supporting Wesley Place on Honeysuckle for #GivingTuesday!
