Harper Collins Concise Latin Dictionary ISBN-13: 978-0062791597 -- this is the best diciontary for students at this level. A larger dictionary only hinders them, and this one has third principle parts listed as their own entries! It is also reasonably priced ($15 on Amazon).

The Perseus Project (www.perseus.tufts.edu) has amazing online dictionary resources available that students may also use at home.

Class Structure

The class will consist of several real-world engineering projects. The students will develop engineering skills, along with some basic engineering math, needed to research, collaborate, and present team projects to the class.

This class will use free school software from Autodesk called Fusion 360. This is a 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) program that allows different teams to connect on a single cloud-based platform. We will use the program to first design and engineer some projects, and then, 3D print some of the projects.

Since some of the seniors in this class will be finishing the class at the end of trimester two, the Mid-Term Project will be the major project of the year.

Students will be provided with copies of the Latin texts we will be translating. There are limited dictionaries available for classroom use, and students will be given a link to a good online dictionary that they may use at home. A personal Latin dictionary would be very valuable for students at this point in their Latin careers, and I strongly recommend that they acquire a copy of Harper Collins Concise Latin Dictionary, which is the best diciontary for their level and at what is a reasonable dictionary price ($15 on Amazon). If students cannot purchase a personal dictionary and cannot access an online dictionary at home, I would be happy to make other arrangements.

Recommended Texts

Harper Collins Concise Latin Dictionary ISBN-13: 978-0062791597 -- this is the best diciontary for students at this level. A larger dictionary only hinders them, and this one has third principle parts listed as their own entries! It is also reasonably priced ($15 on Amazon).

The Perseus Project (www.perseus.tufts.edu) has amazing online dictionary resources available that students may also use at home.

Latin I B 2018/2019 Andrea Stehle BASIS San Antonio - Shavano Campus

We will be using the Cambridge Latin Course Unit 1 (4th Edition). It is a red book. If the student would like their own copy, there are many inexpensive used copies on Amazon.

There is also a Cambridge Latin Website, it the student wishes to access it. There is a subscription (about $15). The website has an electronic version of the textbook, all the passages we translate with hyperlink dictionary (much better than Google), vocabulary and grammar drill and practice and additional cultural information.

Recommeneded Texts Harper Collins Concise Latin Diciontary -- Having a Latin dictionary is always very useful! I strongly recommend this one. Yes, even over Cassell's! It has most of the words students will ever need, as well as separate entries for third principle parts. It is still my own go-to physical Latin dictionary.
