him next June at Stoke Park during the Boodles Invitational. While you play your private match with

Born February 23, 1931, Wesselmann attended college in his native state of Ohio, where he studied psy-chology. Wesselmann was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and it was during this time that he began to draw, becoming increasingly interested in cartoons. After being discharged, Wesselmann completed his degree in 1954 and went on to study drawing at The Art Academy of Cincinnati. In 1956 Wessel-mann was accepted to Cooper Union where his focus drastically shifted to fine art. Rejecting abstract expressionism and action painting, Wesselman instead favored classical representations of the nude, still life, and landscape.

In search of his own style Wesselmann began to create collages and assemblages through found ev-eryday objects and advertising ephemera. While continuing his experimentation with mixed media, Wesselmann became one of the founding members of the Judson gallery along with Mark Radcliff and Jim Dine. His Still Lifes and Great Nudes of the ‘60s and ‘70s won him acclaim for their flat forms, se-lectively shaped canvases, and intense color. The ‘80s and ‘90s were spent exploring sculpture; and, in the 21st century the artist returned to painting. Wesselmann employed flat compositions, more defined lines, and a propensity toward primary colors in both his figurative and abstract styles. Referencing Mondrian and Matisse as influential forces, Wesselmann created a last breadth of work before passing in December of 2004.

Artist Flore Sigrist is a Swiss visual artist who was born in 1985. Numerous works by this precocious

artist have been sold at auction, including ‘SUR LE TRAMPOLINE ÇA DÉCOIFFE!’ which sold at So-

theby’s New York Contemporary Art sale this past spring for $134,500.

This beautiful work was painted when the artist was just 14 years old, which is her most collected and

important period.

Robert Clark was born in New Castle, Indiana. He adopted his birth state as his artist surname early

in his career. Indiana’s compositions consist of bold, simple, iconic images and the use of bright con-

trasting colors. He has been a prominent figure in American art since the 1960s. His exquisite and bold

works of assemblage art, hard-edge abstraction and pop art has solidified him as an internationally

revered artist.

Indiana created a Christmas card for MOMA in 1964 which first featured his famous LOVE design. LOVE

has become an icon of 20th century art, and in 1973 the United States Postal Service used Indiana’s

design for a postage stamp. The LOVE configuration also became sculptures in public places such as

Love Park, Philadelphia in the US and a similar sculpture of the word HOPE edition was placed in the

Israel Museum located in Jerusalem, Israel.

Francesco Clemente is one of the most important artists living today. His works are exhibited in major

museums worldwide, and major shows and retrospective exhibitions have been held at the Guggen-

heim in New York, The Centre Pompidou in Paris, and many, many others. Clemente has often engaged

in collaborations, both in India with local craftsmen, and in New York with artists including Jean-Michel

Basquiat and Andy Warhol. Clemente’s works on paper were the focus of a full retrospective organized

by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which traveled within the United States and to the Royal Academy

of Arts, London. His works on paper have been shown in exhibitions organized by museums through-

out the US and in Europe, garnering him world renown.
