Box Sync Inc. is developing a new kind of social communications platform that enables individuals affected by trauma and those who are separated from loved ones by time, distance or circumstances to strengthen, maintain or build close, personal relationships. Through secure, curated and shared “BoxS”, the thoughts, feelings, personal memories and messages of every individual can be made private or shared, saved, passed on and protected.

The company is able to achieve these goals through the integration of its four main products known as LegacyBoxS©, TreasureBoxS©, GroupBoxS©

and MemorialBoxS©. The company’s initial roll out will consist of LegacyBoxS and TreasureBoxS while GroupBoxS and MemorialBoxS will be in development.

LegacyBoxS were created to assist users in the creation of their own personal legacy. Using photos, videos, personal journal entries and sound recordings, an individual can create, share, add to, archive, assign a beneficiary and ultimately pass down their own unique life story and experiences to loved ones and future generations.

TreasureBoxS were designed with many of the same features of a LegacyBox. The TreasureBox however is unique in that it is created by an individual specifically for another and given as a gift that can continue to be added to. The gift of a TreasureBox helps to heal and maintain those relationships that have been affected due to circumstance, trauma, loss, divorce, foster care, deployment, job relocation, incarceration and many other scenarios.

The TreasureBox facilitates hope within all these groups that often are affected by circumstances out of their control. It empowers both the parent and child to identify and capture moments and feelings they wish to share in order to build their relationship in a safe and secure environment. The BoxS evolve with the users and assists in identifying needs and feelings while bridging bonds that have been affected by circumstance, time, distance and trauma. The experience promotes understanding and enables the healing process, in a positive environment, within both the relationship and the individual.

COMPANY ANALYSIS

FOSTER CHILD PERSPECTIVE

My TreasureBox allowed my foster

family and I to create personal journal entries

for one another and upload pictures of our time together.

As we added to our BoxS we naturally began to bond. Seeing the care in the album creations and the truly heart felt submissions made by my foster families drew us all closer together.

Having the love and support of these families has helped me to achieve my goals.

USE CASE STUDY

Adopted ChildBella had not yet been adopted by her eighth birthday. Having entered the system at a very young age, Bella had already experienced five foster homes. Bella struggled in school. Having been moved between three different elementary schools by the third grade. As much as she tried, Bella could not keep up with

the ever changing curriculum and requirements of each separate school she attended.

Statistically Bella’s age had exceeded the average age of adoption and because of her failing grades, low self esteem and continued outbursts brought on by constant instability in her relationships and home life, Bella became viewed as a “difficult placement case” by her caseworkers, further complicating her situation.

Bella was gifted a sponsored TreasureBoxS. She began filling it with scanned copies of her best saved school work. She spent her time gathering remnants she had held onto from her past and archiving them into her personal LegacyBox. Soon after creating her own LegacyBox, Bella began creating a TreasureBox with her current foster family.

The TreasureBox grew and so did the relationship with her host family. Bella grew very close to her foster sister Joan, and their bond was solidified through Bella’s final adoption in the spring of the following year.

The family continues to add to their shared TreasureBoxS and Bella continues to add to her personal story.

Child awaiting adoption Christopher had already been in the foster care system for six years, when at the age of 10 he was introduced to TreasureBoxS. Christopher began building his Legacybox, inserting all of his previous photos and memories into a compilation of his life’s story. Having an outlet to put his feelings and showcase the people and events that had made up his life helped Christopher to cope with past experiences and gave him confidence to focus on the positive outcomes of his fostered life.

While building his own life’s story, Christopher began building a TreasureBox along with his current foster family. Together they filled the TreasureBox with all of their photos and memories. The family became inspired to create more happy healthy moments so they could add to and build their BoxS.

Christopher eventually left the home and moved to kinship care where he lived between his grandmothers home and foster care for the next two years. Within that time Christopher built TreasureBoxS with his grandmother, uncle and the families he visited. Each time Christopher created a TreasureBox with a relative or supporting family he was able to focus on the positive aspects of the experience, building a support system around himself that he will be able to rely on for a lifetime.

FOSTER FAMILY PERSPECTIVE

Having a place to put all of our positive moments with our foster children has been priceless.

The children that we have created TreasureBoxS with look forward to the time it takes to create them and it gives us an opportunity as a family to share our feelings and experiences.

Deep connections have occurred between my family and the children that we have fostered. Through the creation and passing on of our children’s TreasureBoxS we can rest in the knowledge that we have had a positive effect on the

lives of the children whom we have cared for.

SECURED, SAFE & BACKED UP

Security is of the Utmost Importance here at Box Sync,Inc.

To date, many parents in these situations have been encouraged to create FaceBook pages or their own websites.

The problem with these systems is that they are neither safe or secure nor can they be archived for future generations.

Treasure BoxS solves these concerns via a closed system of communication that is safe for both the parent and the child. This information is extremely personal and the company treats the security of it as its top priority. The system has high end encryption, is COPA compliant and each box is stored and backed up in servers across the country to ensure its safety and longevity.

THE SOLUTION

FOSTER CARE PERSPECTIVE

A major concern of the foster care system today is that many children grow up with no recorded history of their past.

TreasureBoxS allowsfoster parents and foster children alike, to archive and save their precious moments and memories.

The Treasure Box belongs to the

child and follows the child throughout their life, giving the child the ability to record and revisit their past while providing a valuable tool to express their feelings at any time.

Legacy BoxSYour Autobiography

Legacy BoxS is an online resource for people to create a visual and written representation of themselves that will live on forever. Unlike online memorials, which are created after someone passes, Legacy BoxS are for people to record their own life stories through favorite pictures, journal entries and much more. Over thousands of years, generations have passed

down stories and mementos to their children, but in this culture that is inundated with technology, we have yet to establish a tool to collect them digitally for this purpose.

F O S T E R S I B L I N G PERSPECTIVE

As a teenage child I became very close with my foster sister Shondra.

Though our time together was limited, we were

able to create TreasureBoxS for one another.

We have used the TreasureBoxS over the years to stay in touch and share our life experiences with one another.

Having each others support has helped us to both grow into strong, secure adults.

I am uplifted by Shondra’s entries and her ability to overcome extreme difficulties.

Our friendship remains strong to this day.

individual. Capturing the complete story of who an individual is has never been easier. Share it, capture it and encapsulate it so that it may be a part of the life story that is uniquely yours.

Memorial BoxS is an online resource for people to contribute and create a visual, audio and written representation of the life of a loved one or friend that has passed away. Memorial BoxS were d e s i g n e d t o b e e i t h e r p r i v a t e l y contributed to, by the friends and family of the Memorial Box owner or open to public contribution, available to visit and comment on without invitation, in order to

The Memorial Box ensures that a life not be forgotten. That A life can be revisited, honored and passed on, time and time again.

F O S T E R MENTOR

My mentor, Jacob and I spend time

filling my TreasureBox with pictures and videos of our time together.

We have photos of our trip to the zoo last week and of my drawings from our lunch on the pier.

We write stories together and Jacob regularly enters messages of encouragement for me.

Having my TreasureBox to visit reminds me that somebody is watching out for me and that I am loved.

The ability to read Jacob’s advice in our journal and being able to revisit our experiences together helps me to get through the times that I struggle and he is not near.
