She woke up slow. The first hint of morning appeared to be theonly time that the girl did, in fact, move slower than the worldthat she immersed herself in. Way back when - was it only amere two years ago? - she deliberately woke slow. It was thetime she had all to herself. No one to impress, no one to judge, and noth ing to cor rect , the g ir l had simply l ai d the re ,pretending to stil l be asleep while the world hummed alongaround her. Long, shal low breaths with heightened sensesal lowed her to imagine herself invincible, ethereal. Magical,a lmost, was the feeling of l is tening to nature and her ownbreathing, lett ing her body remain numb with sleep and hermind foggy. However, that was a long time ago, if not measuredby time but instead by experience. For one thing, there was noway she could be considered a girl before. She was much tooknowledgeable about the real world, or at least the worst of it.

Nowadays, she woke up slow because of necessity. Low energy, she knew by now, caused by a peaceful, sweet dream thatinvolved innocence and purity. She needed a hefty dose of something bad to make her feel normal again. A morning romp,a cocktail, or even a nice good verbal abuse session perked herup enough to start running things around here. All she neededwas to get one of those Grey’s over here with somethingdelectable to satisfy her need.

An elegant, porcelain hand snapped once as it hung over thes ide of the bed. Fingers laz ily toyed with long, manicuredfingernails as she waited patiently, eyes closed. She shouldn’thave to lift another finger this early in the morning, for it was a

well-known fact that Aurélie appreciated her beauty sleep andall others that she allowed to reside in her manor were expectedto be up and running by this time of day, when the sun was wellon its way up the sky. Thus, when a good minute had passedand she was forced to open her eyes, she was already in a foulmood.

What she opened her eyes to, however, caused a much greaterdisturbance within her worn-out soul; she had opened her eyesto a burning white sun with the salty air penetrating her lungsinstead of her wonderfully decorated Louis XIV master bedroom.Upon this realization, she witnessed a plethora of other thingsclearly wrong with this situation - she was lying upon a rock,

she could hear the ocean, and she was in absolute wilderness.Confusion s truck her dumb as she sat up f rom the rock, adjusting her sunny blonde hair to fal l perfectly down to hershoulders. She wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes that she did

The scent of salt that hit the roof his mouth was clear andfamiliar, the gurgling of the waves was sound that the boyenjoyed at well. The familiar noise and talking that he was usedto weren’t there, but he decided that he hadn’t expected itanyway. He wore flip-flops that he had found from god-knewwhere, and felt himself sort of smile as warm sand seeped ontohis foot as he sunk into the soft ground. This, yeah, this was a

beach. His brown eyes looked around, scanning the rocks, thesea, the sand, the girl.

Wait, what?

Aidan took a few more steps towards the large rock, still a gooddistance away from it. The beach was split into a sandy part androcky part as it seemed, and well, the girl was on the rocky partso Aidan would follow. He couldn’t see her from here, but hey, agirl was a girl. He mentally clicked on his charm, as he walkedin the sand along the beach towards the rocks. “Hey!” Heshouted out, the girl wasn’t terribly high up, but she was highenough. Looking at the hard side of the rock, Aidan instantlyregretted not bringing his skates. It’d be difficult to scale the

surface, considering it was neither as smooth or as flat as abuilding, and he didn’t have any ground to gain momentum on,but he if had jumped down from some other rocks, maybe hecould land…or something. But it was too late to think about thatat the very moment. If he tried to explain that all to the girl upthere at the very moment, it’d be complete jibberish, unless shewas from the same world as he.

“How’s it goin’?” he called up. Now unless the woman hadsome sort of power he didn’t know about, and she hadvoluntarily gone up there, Aidan was going to guess that shehad landed atop the rock after being PIF’d there. He gave her afriendly and grin though his brown eyes twinkled with

something...sly.

"I'm Aidan."

Salimity was sunbathing. It was odd, but she hardly ever got

R&R back home. I t could be considered laziness, but she felt asif she deserved something after being hauled around theuniverse to this back water planet.

She was listening to the waves roll in, a sound she was sounfamiliar with that it enchanted her. Her breathing rhythmstimed with it, in and out, in and out.

A ways from her, Aidan approached the waking girl on the rock, calling out to her. Salimity scrunched up her face, her toofragile calm broken, and she sat up. Her skin was warm to thetouch, just turning pink in some areas. It would be a nice tanlater.

Running her fingers through her hair she shook the sand out, then stood brushing the sand from her clothes. She figured thatthey were sea faring clothes exactly, a loose button up and

pants, but they were comfy.

And it wasn't like she was considering to go swimming at anytime.

Sal brought a hand up to shield her eyes and she watched, froma moderate distance, the event about to take place. That girl

was pretty high up there - stupid PIF - but that lad could alwayscatch her.

Or maybe she should help. Maybe.

With a sigh, Sal checked that she had her knife lashed onto herhip, and without a sound started walking her way leisurely tothe rock.

What could she say? The beach had put her in a gracious mood.

One does not realize how difficult it can be to retain composureon the top of a boulder until one is forced to do so, the womanthought bitterly as she stumbled around the top of the rock, hands grabbing at the hem of the nightgown she wore to hold itdown when the wind tempted i t skyward and head shakingvigorously to dispel the strands of hair that clouded her vision

that so desperately needed to find the beginnings of a ledge off this thing. In company or not, the appearance of one is of  utmost importance. If you look good, you feel good - period. Atthe moment, Aurélie didn’t look good, at all. The scowl set uponher features was almost as ugly as the actions that this nature

was performing on her frail body and its belongings. In fact, thetorture of her dirty feet, struggling hair, and chilled skin almosthad her at the point of throwing her hands up in the air andexclaiming vulgar words to the dead surroundings. This waswhat she was just about to do until she heard a masculine voicecall to her from the ground, beyond the edge of the cliff thatseparated her from the rest of the world.

She peered off into the horizon, looking down at a boy and ag ir l, who was fur ther off. We ll , now she was rea lly in apredicament. Here she was, stranded atop a miniature mesa, completely powerless and rather desperate looking. Shedespised the appearance of both of those things, even if onlytemporary. This was not how things are supposed to happen.First introductions, especially with someone of her stature, weremeant to be demonstrat ive of  her  power and her  success.Instead, she has no clue what is going on and is wind-blown tothe point of giving up, with a al l too friendly man and a girlapproaching s tead ily. Can’t they jus t leave her a lone?

Peering off of the edge where the boy was standing, she kneltdown to s it on her knees, hands resting on the s ide. She

glanced over him quickly, observing him cautiously. Definitelyuse caution in this circumstance - a transformation like this wasonly linked to The Board. There was no other way out and intowilderness. The alternative to a rather strange encounter with

The Board would be that she was on some supernatural trip, which wouldn’t be possible unless someone had successful lyspiked her drink. Even then, though, she would be incrediblyhappier and much less worrisome than she was.

Brown. He had brown eyes, and was daring to speak to her -especially in such a casual manner. No, this was definitely some

sort of bizarre, hallucinogen-induced trip. Her eyes narroweddangerously, and she attempted to react to the situation withsome sort of leader-like composure intact. She moved to brushher hair behind her ears, getting it out of her face to reveal herpurple-hued eyes in all their glory. ” Brown, what sect are youfrom?” she asked w ith a characte ri st ic , ic y tone tha taccompanied her normally innocent voice when speaking tothose beneath her.

” I command you to get me down from here, at whateverlengths necessary,” she continued coldly, fully expecting himto come get her of this roof or building or wherever she seemedto end up with stairs only seen to those not experiencing thisdrug-induced horror. He wouldn’t dare ignore her. I t was

grounds for punishment, and he knew that almost as well as shedid. Waiting, she moved to sit pristinely with her legs danglingoff of the edge, freshly cut by rocks. Posture perfect and armsand legs folded neatly, she looked every bit of the leader sherepresented at this point in time. If that brown didn’t l isten toher, she’d be forced to report him.

Then again, if she hadn’t been so careless (somehow) with herbeverages, she wouldn’t need his help because she would beable to see the stairs herself. No one was ever going to knowthat, however.
