He instructed the young preacher: “Ministry is a skill to be learned,a technique to be mastered.” The next speaker, an older pastor, read only one verse from the Bible: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Heb. 10:31). Fortified Against Fainting

My text is taken from II Corinthians 4:1-8. This scripturedeals with the difficulties faced by the minister of the

gospel and demonstrates the resources we have been given toguard against fainting in times of adversity. I want to pointout two verses in particular. Verse 1 says,“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, aswe have received mercy, we faint not.”Again in verse 17, Paul says, “For whichcause we faint not; but though our outwardman perish, yet the inward man is renewedday by day.”

Ministry dropouts litter the pages of churchhistory. Paul spoke of Demas as one ofhis fellow laborers in Philemon 1:24. In IITimothy 4:9-10, Paul urges Timothy tocome to him as soon as possible, “for De-mas hath forsaken me, having loved thispresent world.” Probably most of us haveknown people who once were involved inthe ministry. Statistics show that of 20people who enter the ministry, only onewill be active in the ministry at the age of65. That is an astonishing fact. I doubt ifthere is any other profession with a similardropout rate.

There are many reasons why there are so many formerpreachers. It is obvious that some preachers missed theircalling. In the excitement of a great service of a wonderfulrevival, it is not unusual for a young person, wanting to dosomething for God, to mistake that zeal for a call to preach.

Timothy George, Dean at Beeson Divinity School, told of anordination service in which the first speaker enthusiasticallyurged the young minister to approach the ministry withoutfear and with great gusto. He instructed the young preacher:“Ministry is a skill to be learned,a technique to be mastered.”The next speaker, an older pastor, read only one verse from

ARTICLES of FAITHThe object for which it is formed is: To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and promote abetter understanding among all breth- ren.

The Word of God alone shall be the Doctrine, Practice, and Discipline of this Boardof Members: it being understood that we receive it as the inspired Word of God and theDivine rule of faith and conduct.

We believe in God the Father Almighty. Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ,His only begotten Son, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, sufferedunder Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried and arose on the third dayaccording to the Scriptures, afterwards ascended into heaven where He is now seated at theright hand of God the Father, from whence He is come again to judge the quick and dead.

We believe in Water Baptism and that it should be administered to every believeraccording to the Scriptures given by St. Matthew 3:17;28:19; St. Mark 16:15; Acts 8:36-38.We teach that the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin, and sanctifies the believer, thus making him or her eligible to re- ceive the gift of the Holy Ghost which is givento them that obey (Acts 5:32) and the evidence of such experience shall be according toActs 2:4.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the Commu- nion of the saints, the Lord’sSupper and washing the saint  s feet. We believe that divine healing for our physical bodieswas included in His suffering as mentioned by the prophet Isaiah 53:5. It is still availableto all who meet conditions and accord- ing to His will (James 5:14).

We believe that all ministers should be of good report (1 Timothy 3:7-12) includingPastors, Evangelists, Deacons and Elders (Titus 1:5-7); and husbands of one wife.We believe the Church of Jesus Christ to be a living Organism. The Body of Christ, andhabitation of God through the Spirit (Ephesians 2:20-22), and that each true believer is a memberof the Body (1 Corinthians 12:14; Acts 2:47). -By Brother Ira J. Roberts

among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” In thisverse he demonstrated the humility that caused him to preach, not himself, but Christ. The loss of humility in the preacherruins his focus. What people think about him becomes moreimportant that what they think about Jesus. Fainting is oftenthe result of losing focus.

Over the years I have come to the conclusion that the messageof Christ requires more than gaining the facts about Christ, his cross, and his resurrection. It requires some time in whichwe fellowship with him, suffer with him, learn to trust him,and come to love him with all our heart. Preaching theunsearchable riches of Christ is only possible to those whohave experienced the unsearchable riches of Christ. When thepreacher ceases to grow in grace and in the knowledge of ourLord Jesus Christ, his ministry begins to lose focus. Faintingis often the result.

Preaching Christ not only involves a clear exposition of hisperson and work, but it also involves the accurate replicationof his life in us. To preach Christ, we must live like Christlived. In verse 10 of my text, Paul says,  “Always  bearingabout in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life alsoof Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” Peter tells usthat Jesus “suffered for us, leaving us an example, that yeshould follow in his steps: who did no sin, neither was guilefound in his mouth: who when he was reviled, reviled notagain; when he suffered he threatened not; but committedhimself to him that judgeth righteously.” No amount ofpreaching about Jesus can overcome a life that contradictsJesus. According to Peter the character of Christ shone insuffering. When he was reviled, that is, when people talkedugly to him, when they falsely accused him, when they calledhim names, he did not answer in kind. Instead of seekingrevenge on those who crucified him, he prayed for theirforgiveness. Preaching Christ involves living like Christ.Every minister of the gospel must be able to say like theapostle Paul, “We preach Christ Jesus the Lord.”

II. The Minister’s FoeThe ministry has been depleted due to preacher’s underesti-mating the opposition to the message. Verse 4 of my text tellsus that the god of this world has blinded the minds of men tothe truth. He raises opposition to the truth. Obviously thedevil does not oppose all religion. His followers, for the mostpart, are very religious, and he aims to keep them that way. Most everybody in hell walked a religious road to hell. But hehates the message of Christ because it is the only savingmessage in all the world. Acts 4:12, says, “Neither is theresalvation in any other, for there is none other name underheaven given among men by which we must be saved.”The minister is sustained by two things: 1) He expects fierceopposition from Satan; and 2) He expects grace from God toovercome the opposition. Speaking of the opposition heendured in his ministry, Paul said in verses 8-9 of my text:“We are troubled on every side, we are perplexed; we arepersecuted; we are cast down.” That is on the one hand. On

the other hand, “we are not distressed, not in despair, notforsaken, and not destroyed.” Someone translated that lastphrase like this: “We are knocked down, but not knockedout.” On the one hand we experience the dying of the LordJesus; on the other hand, the life of Jesus is made manifest inour flesh. The preacher is fortified against fainting when heanticipates the ferocious opposition from hell and the suffi-cient help of the Lord in every battle.

III. The Minister’s FaithIn my text Paul quotes a passage from Psalms 16:10, “Ibelieved, therefore have I spoken.” Paul adds, “We  alsobelieve and therefore speak” (v. 13). Ultimately fainting isdue to the loss of faith. Faith motivates ministry; faith in thelife transforming power of the gospel and faith in the eternalfruit of our ministry. Romans 1:16, says, “For I am notashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of Godunto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, andalso to the Greek.” In verse 17 of my text, Paul states, “Forour light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for usa far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. We mustnot cast away our confidence which hath great recompense ofreward.

My uncle was a tail gunner in the 8th Air Force in World WarII. He told of two fighter plane crews that had finished theirlast bombing run over Germany. They were celebrating asthey came in for a landing in England. In a moment ofcarelessness, the planes collided and all the soldiers died inthe crash. It is important that we not lose focus, that we notgive in to the foe, and that we not lose our faith.

In his book The Case  for  Faith, Lee Strobel tells aboutinterviewing Charles Templeton. Templeton was a preacherfriend of Billy Graham’s in the early days of his ministry. Hepreached with Graham in youth ministry. Some thought thathe had more potential than Graham. He founded a church thatwould seat 1200. It was soon full. But he began to havedoubts about the Bible. Looking at a picture of an Africanmother holding her dead baby in the time of a terrible famine,Templeton decided that such suffering could not exist if therewere a God of love. He abandoned his pulpit and became avocal atheist. He wrote a book entitled Farewell to God: MyReasons  for  Rejecting the Christian Faith. Years later LeeStrobel interviewed Templeton for the book he was writingon faith. Templeton was aged and suffering from a terminalillness. Strobel questioned him about his atheism. Templetonwas steadfast in his denial of God’s existence, even declaringthat he would like to believe, but that it was impossible forhim to believe. Strobel probed further, “How do you assessJesus Christ?” Templeton’s tone softened; he spoke in amelancholy tone: “He was the greatest human being that everlived. He was a moral genius. His ethical sense was unique. He was the wisest person I’ve ever encountered in my life or

The Man Between the Master andthe Miracle

“And as Jesus passed by, he saw a manwhich was blind from his birth… And hisdisciples asked him, saying, Master, whodid sin, this man, or his parents, that hewas born blind? Jesus answered, Neitherhath this man sinned, nor his parents:but that the works of God should be mademanifest in hi…. When he had thusspoken, he spat on the ground, and madeclay of the spittle, and he anointed theeyes of the blind man with the clay, Andsaid unto him, Go, wash in the pool ofSiloam, (which is by interpretation,Sent.) He went his way therefore, andwashed, and came seeing.” John 9:1-6

This story starts with an interestingquestion? Who’s fault is it that he is

blind? There was a belief in Bible timesthat any sickness was because either theindividual or the parents had sinned.Jesus quickly dispels that idea bydeclaring that the blindness that this manhas dealt with since birth was for theglory of God. He declares that he is thelight of the world. What a time to makesuch a statement! He is face to face witha man who has spent his entire life in thedarkness of blindness. Can you imaginethe hope that must have immediatelyrisen in this man’s heart? This is just oneof many places that the Bible makes itclear that Jesus is whatever you need, whenever you need it.

After this short discourse, Jesus doesa very interesting thing. He spits on theground, picks up a handful of dirt, andmakes clay. Then, with this “clay” heanoints the blind man’s eyes. Now, weread this and immediately think, “that’sdisgusting”. However, there was aprevalent belief in that day that there wasa healing power in spittle. Jesus is usinga simple object lesson to teach a greattruth. Over and over in the Gospels, wesee Jesus, the Master Teacher, finding away to connect with his audience in asimple, yet profound way. After Jesusdoes this, he tells him to go wash this clayointment off in the pool of Siloam. What a weird story! Let’s get thisstraight, Jesus just spit on the ground, putit on the guy’s face, and told him to gowash it off in a pool somewhere. What?We often pass by this to focus on the factthat he came back seeing, but wait asecond. Jesus just told a blind guy to goacross town to some pool to wash the clayoff his face. When I read this, I want toknow, how in the world is this BLINDguy going to find the pool of Siloam? It’squite probable that he had never beenthere before. The area that a blind manwould cover in his travels in that timeperiod was a very small one. How is hegoing to get to the pool? Ah, now we come to the point.Someone had to take this blind man bythe arm, and lead him to the place thatJesus sent him. You see, not everythingthat Jesus tells us to do makes sense. Itdoesn’t make much sense to us for Jesusto send a blind guy across town to washhis face in a pool, especially when Jesuswas the one that made his face dirty in thefirst place. There are times in our liveswhen God tells us to go somewhere or dosomething that doesn’t make any sense atall. He may send you to a pool that you’venever been to, and don’t know how to getto. Wait, don’t panic! He doesn’t expectyou to get there by yourself. He hasprovided someone to get you from whereyou are to where He wants you to end up.In fact, there is a group of people whospecialize in leading people to the pool. They are called “ministers”. God doesn’texpect you to always understand whereto go or what to do. That is why he hasplaced the leadership of the ministry inyour life. It is the preacher’s job to helpyou get to where God wants you to go.

Now, what if the blind man hadpulled away from the guy that was tryingto lead him to the pool? Would he everhave received his sight? He probablywould have died blind. What if the manthat was going to lead him to the poolpulled a little too hard on his arm, or wasa little rough with him? Does that meanhe wants him to stay blind? This blindman had to trust the man who wasleading him by the arm to where Jesussaid to go. There are times when wemust do the same. We must simply trustthe minister God has put in our lives tohelp us get to where God said to go. There are times when the ministerpulls a little hard on our elbow, or getsin too big of a hurry to get us to the pool,or even is a little rough in leading usthere, but that doesn’t change the fact thathe is trying to get you to where Jesus saidto go. There are a few people who willnever receive the miracle of sight, because they don’t trust the one who istrying to lead them to the pool. Why should you trust God’s leader? There are a few simple reasons that willhelp you on the way to the pool. First, the minister can see the way. Could theblind man see the path, or the obstaclesin the path? No, but the man leading himcould. The minister dedicates himself toknowing the way, and being able to leadyou in it. That is his high calling and thegreat desire of his heart. Second, theminister has often been where you areheaded. There are many times that Godallows the preacher to experience painand suffering, just so he will know howto lead his people when they walkthrough those great valleys. Last, he hasa perspective that you don’t have. He hasbeen to the pool, and has seen what Godcan do there. God speaks to the preacherin special ways, so that he can tell youjust what God wants you to know. These are just a few simple thoughts, but perhaps it will help you to considerthem. Are you pulling away from theman who is leading you to the pool? Or,are you trusting God, and God’s man tolead you to where He wants you to be?Perhaps you are in the place of the manin the middle. Lead carefully, guidegently, counsel prayerfully, and livehumbly. Always remember, someone ledyou there once, too.

In Memory

Of

Reverend

David Adams

The saying is very true, "Anyone can be a Father but it takessomeone special to be a Daddy." My daddy was by far

the best ever. My name is Davina, which is derived fromDavid. My daddy was Rev. David Earl Adams, of Batesville,Arkansas.  He was born August 13, 1945, the baby boy to fiveolder sisters, in Paducah, Kentucky. His father passed awaywhen he was only ten years old and was raised by his godlymother, Stella Adams. They attended the Full GospelTabernacle on Guthrie Street.  Some of his earlier pastors wereRev. Kenneth Brand and Bro. John Whetstone. On top of ElcoHill, during camp meeting on July 4th, 1968, dad met mymother, Beverly Ann Burns of Jonesboro, IL. They weremarried on December 7, 1968. The Lord placed a call onDaddy's life not long after they were married. He said he feltthe Lord ask him as He did Peter, in John chapter 21:  Do youlove me?" Peter replied, "Lord, you know everything. Youknow I love you."  Jesus told him to "Feed my sheep!"  Thatwas one of Dad's favorite quotations from the bible.

He became pastor of Omstead Pentecostal Church in IL. Acouple of years later the Lord opened the doors of SmithlandPentecostal Church, in KY. Then for three years, he pastoredat Dugger, IN.  In 1978, we moved to Batesville, Arkansas, where daddy became the pastor of Full Gospel FellowshipChurch for 36 years.

Dad had a true pastor’s heart, where he truly cared for hisflocks. He would rise early every morning to pray for hissheep, calling each one before the Lord daily.  He was not aman of many words in conversation but a man of God on hisknees. He was faithful in prayer. He was faithful in churchattendance. He was faithful to visit in hospitals in his townand traveling wherever he needed to visit others. He wasfaithful to visit revivals, fellowship meeting and campmeetings.  Usually we could always find him in the kitchen, lending a helping hand to wash pots and pans when ever wewould go to camp meetings.  He had such a servant’s heart, and was a real faithful servant of the Lord. The Lord was first

in everything Dad did, but Mom and I were next.  He tookgood care of us and invested a lot of time in my life. The dayI was born, just a few days after his birthday, Daddy went andbought me a fishing rod.  We used that rod a lot, because hereally enjoyed getting to go fish.  Although he would tell me,“Now you have got to be quiet to catch fish” that was veryhard for me for I was not a quiet little girl.   I was definitelyDaddy's little girl.  He taught me everything.  How to read andhow to write.  How to ride a bicycle. How to play ball. Howto drive a stick shift tuck. How to cook. However the mostimportant quality he taught me was how to pray. "Dear graciousand kind Heavenly Father" was always how he would beganany prayer. He fought many battles on those knees.  We neverknew a lot of his worries or questions, because he always tookthem to God first.

I remember one of his famous quotes, “Davina, don't worryabout your troubles, give them to God and get you some sleepbecause God is gonna be upanyway.”  He would say Godgives his beloved sleep.   Iloved my daddy more thanwords can ever express.   Hewas my hero, my side kick andmy dearest friend.   I reallymiss not getting to pick up thephone to call him and say,“Dad, I really need you to helpme pray for this need in mylife.”  I know I can go to myFather, He always listens forHe cares about me.  They sayHeaven will be worth thejourney when I get there.   Itsure will cause Heaven gaineda faithful servant, my Daddy,on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 1:15p.m. I want my life to bejust like daddy taught me, a Faithful Servant until the end!!

-Davina

Bro. David Adams was a great man. I’ve known Bro. Davidand Sis. Beverly from my early teen years since Sis.

Beverly was from my home area of Southern Illinois and Bro.David was from Paducah, KY. We saw each other a lot throughthe years at the Granite City and Elco, IL, camp meetings.

When I moved to West Plains, MO, Bro. Adams was pastoringa church in our area fellowship, Full Gospel Fellowship, inBatesville, AR. Bro. David was a Faithful man; a man ofintegrity; a true Minister of the Gospel. He pastored inBatesville for over 36 years and was always so faithful toparticipate in our area rallies and the Ozark Camp. Bro. Davidhad such a kind attitude and gentle spirit. He could be very firmwhen it came to standing for the truth, but he was so kind inhis dealings with others.

It touched my heart that he expressed such a strong desire toattend the Minister’s Meeting in Pigeon Forge this year even

though he was already suffering and very weak physically. When Sis. Adams told me he had his heart set on going I toldmy wife that there was no way he would be able to do that.Well, I was wrong. Bro. Stan and Sis. Joy Collins, who pastorin Willow Springs, MO, volunteered to do the driving and Sis.Beverly was loaned a brand new SUV by a local dealership sothey would have more room andcomfort for the trip. It was only ashort time afterward that Bro. Davidbecame completely confined to hishospital bed and a few days later hewent home to be with the Lord. Wewill really miss Bro. David Adams inthis Ozark Fellowship for he wastruly a Faithful man. "Moreover, itrequired in stewards that a man befound Faithful."

God's Man…But now thus saiththe Lord that created thee, O

Jacob, & he that formed thee OIsrael, fear not, for I have redeemedthee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. (Isaiah 43:1)

Rev. David Adams was God's Man! In the Heavenly dictionary,if you looked  up  the word:  Pastor - you would see - Bro.Adams' picture: God's Man.  He was a gentle giant to everyonethat knew him; but to satan, he was feared as God's Man. If wecould see him now, we would see him as victor, for he foughtbattles against satan and his army, not only for himself but forhis family and his church. He was God's Man

It is a great honor to have had him as my pastor for 32 years. Our family started riding the  church bus when I was 4 yearsold.    As  a child, he seemed  strict on me but he became  myspiritual father in the Lord, mentor, friend and after marriagehe became  a grandparent to my children.  The word Faithfulmeans: loyal, reliable, trusted, and full of faith.   Bro. DavidAdams was all of this  and more. Whether you knew him 30years ago or just two months, he  has always been the same,

He was Faithful to  God. He was a pastor for 45 years and wasfaithful to our church for 36 years.   As he  drew near to theend, he became  more faithful to the Lord, never giving up onHim. On February 6th, 2015 - God  chose to take him home -Rev. David Adams, God's Man, gone but will never beforgotten.  He will always be missed  and loved. We knowbehind every good man is a good wife. God bless Sis Adamsas she carries on.

Our first clear memory of Pastor David Adams was inOctober,1979 when Darlene was in the hospital after

surgery. He came in to visit hospital patients as he faithfullydid through the years they pastored in Batesville. We did not

attend his church at that time. A few months later, we madethe change and began attending Full Gospel Fellowship. It wasa very good change for us.

Bro. & Sis.Adams were our pastors for about four years. Wequickly became friends with them. That friendship has lasted more than35 years. They have been truefriends and pastors through thegood times and the bad times.Always leading by example, we sawhow a true pastor should conductthemselves in every situation. Weknew they sought the Lord for theirpeoples needs and never failed toshow God's love regardless of thecircumstances.

Bro. Adams never had much to sayoutside the pulpit. But when he didsay something, it was sincere andmany times, profound. We havemany good memories of our timeswith the Adams and  will miss him

greatly. We have no doubt that he is now rejoicing with theOne whom he loved more than any other.

Thank you for allowing us to honor a true pastor and dear friend.

Nations that Curse Israel are CursedBY KEVIN J LLOYD

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thycountry, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house,

unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a greatnation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thoushalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, andcurse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of theearth be blessed. (Genesis 12:1-3 KJV)

If December 7, 1941 is a day to live in infamy, then April30 th 1945 should be a day of international introspection. Theformer day is still recognized by most Americans as PearlHarbor day. The later day does not provoke as many memoriesto this generation. It was on that bitter day that Adolph Hitlerand his newly married bride Eva Braun took their lives in aGerman bunker. Hitler had ordered that their bodies be burnedafter death in his last will and testament. He did not want theirbodies to be desecrated by his enemies. The leader of the ThirdReich had cursed Israel and it turned back upon him. In thebizarre document, the Fuehrer left more than instructions forhis remains.  Rabbi Abraham Cooper wrote an article onNational Holocaust Day (April 15, 2015), recalling a chillingprediction from the notorious Nazi.

“Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our towns andmonuments that hatred against those finally responsible… willgrow”.

Perhaps the saddest observation of Hitler’s prediction is that ithas not taken centuries. Anti Semitism is quickly reboundingin a short 70 years.

The term “Anti Semitism” has come to mean something muchmore direct than the sweeping dictionary definition. Now theterm always refers to a feeling of animosity against the Jews. The term ‘animosity’ is very broad. And the broad range offeelings stretches from mild to very severe in our world. Thesefeelings find expression in everything from stereotypical insultsto militant voices that threaten to annihilate the nation of Israel.Incidentally, those feelings are not only very real, they're veryold. We can see them manifested in the narrative of the Bible.Remember those paranoid policies from Pharaoh in the bookof Exodus? Thousands of Jewish baby boys were killed as aresult.  Later we read of the fury of Haaman. He was that jealousPersian persecutor in the days of Esther. Of course there is theinfamous Adolph Hitler and his horrible Holocaust. And evenHenry Ford weighed his voice in against the Jews! Some of thesaddest chapters in Martin Luther’s writings were harsh words

against the Jews. How is it that ancient governments, king’scounselors, modern dictators, famous businessmen and amisguided monk can all agree in their animosity toward theJew? This short list puts an ancient reformer in company withidolaters and murderers. Are the Jews so terribly bad that peoplefrom many different classes and ages have drawn thisconclusion? The accusations run a wide range. They have beenblamed for social ills, economic repression and governmentmanipulation. Sadly, some in the church have persecuted themfor their national rejection of Jesus. Such a widespreadanimosity appears to have a motivating force that goes wellbeyond culture or any single historical event. Satan himself isthe motivating force and the empowering entity behind thishatred of the Jews.

Someone might ask, why make a fuss about Anti Semitism? Isit really a dangerous policy? How is it different from any otherethnic prejudice? Is any disagreement with Israel to beconsidered as Anti Semitic? What does it mean to “bless”Abraham’s descendants and to “curse” them? The answers tothese questions need to be considered. These answers beginwith what God told Abraham. The results of God’s promise toAbraham are far reaching. The stories of how this promiseaffected Gentile nations are revealed in the Bible narrative andin secular history.

When the nations began to form, God chose Abraham for a veryspecific reason. A divine judgment drove men from the idolsand aspirations of Babel. In the settling dust of that judgment,God chose Abraham to receive and preserve some wonderfultruths. God’s design was to preserve truth through this man andhis seed. That work would ultimately bless the world. Thischildless man would become a family and a great nation. Thisman’s family and the nation that would spring from it wouldbecome the backdrop for the mighty acts of God in the world. He would show His power to bring life from the deadness ofSarah’s womb. God would stage that captivating drama thatshowed a father willing to give his son; a son willing to die insurrender to his father’s will; and a God that would provide asubstitute to die in the place of the condemned. That beautifuldrama was enacted on Mt Moriah and it pointed to the dramaon Mt Calvary. God would form a nation from this people. Hewould guide that nation with His word. He would deliver itfrom the power of Egypt. He would give it His law at Sinai. Hewould give it a religion to preserve the story of redemption byblood. He would put it in the land of promise. He would judgeit for its sin and scatter it among the nations. All of God’s actsagainst and among this people were His testimony to the nationsof the world.

So with this privileged status comes the promise; “I will blessthem that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and inthee shall all families of the earth be blessed”. From thispromise comes the principle: God judges Gentile nations basedupon their treatment of Israel regardless of Israel’s spiritualcondition. The principle develops as it progresses throughIsrael’s history in the Bible.

Page 8

God judges Gentile nationsbased upon their treatment of

Israel regardless of Israel’sspiritual condition. Theprinciple develops as it

progresses through Israel’shistory in the Bible.

The first place that this principle comes forward is in the life ofAbraham. In a dire famine, Abraham goes to Egypt for relief. The unfolding event is so early in the patriarchs sojourning thathe is still called Abram. In fear for his life, he agrees with hiswife to call her his sister when they enter Gentile territory.  Shewas indeed his half sister, but the message was deceptive.Abram’s spiritual condition is at the very least questionable. Hehas left the land of promise because of famine and he isdeceiving men about his marital status. The results are best toldfrom the Bible. “And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his housewith great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. And Pharaohcalled Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done untome? Why didst thou not tell me that she was  thy wife? Whysaidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to meto wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thyway. And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: andthey sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had”. (Gen12:17-20).

To establish the principle, the incident is repeated in thepatriarch’s life when he goes to the land of the Philistines.(Genesis 20:1-18). Even his son Isaac repeats the pattern andreceives divine protection. (Genesis 26:1-11). So the principleis established before Israel has grown into a nation. God judgesGentile nations based on their treatment ofIsrael, regardless of Israel’s spiritualcondition. This divine principle isconnected to a divine purpose. God’spurpose for Israel was to bring salvationto the world. Even Jesus said,“Salvation is of the Jews”. God woulduse this nation to preserve His truth andproduce His Messiah.  As the nationsrejected God and turned to idolatry, Godremained faithful. He chose a man. Fromthat man He made a nation. That nationwould be the canvass upon which God would paint His eternalattributes. As the nations of the world began to interact withone another, they would ultimately interact with Israel. As theyinteracted with Israel, they came in contact with Israel’s God.Often the god’s of the heathen were set against the God of Israel.Israel’s God always prevailed. Even when Israel sinned againstGod, He would reveal His holiness to the world by judging Hisown people. God frequently used Gentile nations as a means ofchastening His own people. Once again the heathen would comein contact with Israel’s God. And God would reveal to thoseheathen nations that He was the supreme judge and they weremere instruments in His hand. Moreover, when those nationswent beyond God’s intent, then God would judge them. So, theprinciple has purpose.

Consider what God said in Zechariah 1:15 “And I am very soredispleased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but alittle displeased, and they helped forward the affliction”.

In this verse, God refers to the Nations that were used to judgeIsrael. He says that he is “very sore displeased” with them. Hehad been “a little displeased” with Israel. These nations werechosen to be an instrument of correction for Israel. However,

“they helped forward the affliction”. They had acted beyondwhat God wanted them to do and now God is judging thembased upon their treatment of Israel. Even when God used themas an instrument to judge Israel, they must be careful how theytreat Israel. There are many other references that develop thistruth in their context. Space will prevent comment on all ofthem.  [For further study see Jeremiah 30:11/Ezekiel 25:3-6/Obadiah 1:1-17].

Modern history also provides many examples of God’sjudgment upon gentile nations because of their treatment ofIsrael. John McTernan compiles a list that illustrates thisconnection in a free tract and in his book, As America Has Doneto Israel. Observe his insights:

The United States has been Israel's best friend. Unfortunately, starting with President George H.W. Bush in 1991, Americapressured Israel to divide the covenant land with a Palestinianstate. This is in violation of the Bible, and started with theMadrid Peace Process and continued to this day through theadministrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and BarackObama. On the very day the US government pressured Israelto divide the land awesome disasters hit the nation. Since 1991there have been over 50 such correlations. Below are 12

examples of what happened when the USpressured Israel to divide the covenantland.● October 30, 1991: President Bushinitiates the Madrid Peace Process. Whilehe is speaking in Spain the (PerfectStorm) sends 30 foot waves against hishome in Kennebunkport, ME destroying the house.● August 24, 1992: The Madrid PeaceProcess transfers to Washington and

meets for the first time. On this day Hurricane Andrewdestroys southern Florida with category 5 winds. At thistime, it was the greatest disaster in US history.

● January 17, 1994: A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquakecentered in Northridge rocked the Los Angeles area. Theresult was widespread destruction and $25 billion indamages. The day before President Clinton met with Syriandictator Assad and pressured Israel to withdraw from theGolan Heights.

● March 1, 1997: Arafat arrives in the US to discussJerusalem with President Clinton. On the very day Arafatlanded powerful tornadoes devastated huge sections of thenation. It was one of the worst tornado storms in the nation'shistory. The states of Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee,Kentucky and Ohio suffered tremendous damage.

● May 3, 1999: The most powerful tornado storms ever to hitthe United States fell on Oklahoma and Kansas. Themeteorologists officially measured the winds at 316 MPHmaking it the fastest ever recorded. President Clinton senta letter to Arafat telling him to be patient for a Palestinianstate and they had a right to determine their own future on

The promise made to Abraham is veryold, but the God who honors it is eternal. However it must be noted that thepromise has two sides. This article hasonly emphasized the negative aspect ofGod’s Word. May God turn our nationfrom the dreadful course that leads to adivine curse. May we once again BlessIsrael so that God may bless us.

What is sanctification?

"Sanctification is the ultimate goal and plan of God for theentire being of man: mans spirit saved, his will surrenderedand his body a living sacrifice". -Dwain Galiher.

Sanctification:Heaven's Lord Demands it,A Heart of Love Desires it,

A Holy Life Displays it.-Shad McDonald

Sanctification is a work of God's Grace that separates fromevil and produces Christ's character in Christians by the

truth of God's Word,  the power of the cross and the work ofthe Holy Ghost.

-Lloyd Shuecraft

Sanctification involves:1.  Separation - from the corrupting life of sin.2.  Dedication - to a continual life of service.3.  Purification - a cleansed life in the Spirit.4.  Consecration - onward in a completely committed

life to the savior.-Jerry Pascarella

● August 27, 2005: On this day, Israelremoved the last of the Jewishsettlers from Gaza. This was doneunder pressure from President Bush.On this day Hurricane Katrina wasnamed for the first time. Two dayslater it slammed into New Orleanscreating the greatest disaster in UShistory.

● January 9, 2008: President Bushwent to Israel to assist in theimplementation of dividing Israelwith his two state plan. On this daymassive tornadoes stretched fromAlabama to Wisconsin. It was theworst January tornado storm inhistory. The stock market plungedat this time causing the president tocreate a $165 billion economicstimulus to save the economy.

● On June 3, 2008, Secretary Rice andIsraeli Prime Minister Olmert spokein Washington, DC. Once again,Rice promoted the creation of aPalestinian state by dividing thecovenant land of Israel. PM Olmertlater met with the President. WhilePM Olmert was in the US about

dividing Israel, the economy wasmelting down; plus there weretorrential rains in the Midwest whichwould result in one of the worstfloods in US history. A few of thenews headlines follow: DOW FallsNearly 400 on Oil Surge; Oil surges$11 to Record 138; ForeclosuresReach Record High in First Quarter;Unemployment Rate Jumps highestin 22 Years; and Dangerous Stormsand Tornadoes rake the Plains ThisWeek. Storms and Tornadoes rakethe Plains This Week. In mid June,Secretary Rice traveled to Israelcontinuing her agenda to divideIsrael. She condemned Israel forbuilding homes in Jerusalem andindicated the US would notrecognize the homes as part of Israel! While she was pressuring Israel overJerusalem, the Midwest wasdevastated by its worst flood inhistory!

● May 22, 2011: President Obamaspoke before the AIPAC PolicyConference and outlined the USposition regarding Israel. He statedIsrael should return to the pre-1967war boundaries. This includes thedividing of Jerusalem!Approximately seven hours later, a

horrific tornado storm devastatedJoplin, MO. Perhaps the worsttornado storm in US history. Fordays afterwards, the destructivetornado and the President’s speechwere headlines together on all themajor media sources!

● March 2011: The link is not limitedto America. For example on March8, Japan donated $3.1 million to thePalestinian people and called forthe creation of a Palestinian state. The next day a 7.3 earthquakestruck off the Japanese coast. Thenon March 11, the massive 9.0Fukushima earthquake struck. Thisearthquake and tsunami devastatedJapan destroying 100s of miles ofcoastline and killing thousands. Italso created the greatest nuclearreactor disaster in history.

On June 9th, 2014 I came to Vernon, TX for the first time, and I had no idea what God was about to do. A woman

named  Mozetta  Martinez had contacted Brother DeWayneHolden with a desire to start a church here in Vernon, and Godimmediately began opening doors. We found a building at1418 Fannin St. we were able to rent for 6 months at only fourhundred dollars a month. Gospel Lighthouse of Texarkana,AR faithfully supported the church to help us be able to paythe rent. Our first service was Father's Day, June 15th, 2014.While praying on Monday, July 14th I felt the Lord tell me, “I

have placed before you an opendoor.” The next morning my wifeand I answered the call and beganworking towards moving to Ver-non. We set up a plan to movehere in six months, yet God hadother plans. Within two monthswe had rented out our house, found a new job, and paid thedeposit on a new apartment inVernon.Since we have been here we haveseen one miracle after another. The church runs around 15, and

they have such a desire to see the church grow. We have hadthe pleasure of watching the young people learn new songs andnow lead our song services. In January at a youth rally atVictory Tabernacle I was able to lead a young man from ourchurch to the Lord. God has opened several doors here in thecommunity for us to minister. We are expecting God to giveus a great harvest.

We are currently in the process of buying a church building. The church was originally $65,000 but the owner has droppedthe price for us to $35,000. We talked to a bank that will lendus the money once we have $7,500.00 for a down payment. The owner has agreed to let the church rent the building until

…Upon this rock I will build my church; andthe gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matt. 16:18

Praise from Pioneers we can raise the money for a down payment, and is going totake the rent off of the selling price. We believe God will makea way. Pray for us at Redeeming Grace Pentecostal Church.

One of my fond memories as a small child, is the weekendgetaways my family would travel to a small place called

Couch, Missouri, to see my Maternal Grandparents. Iremember jumping out of our car, swiftly running up the stepsonto the porch, and being welcomed inside. My Grandmother,Roxie May, would have her table spread with beef roast andgravy. From her garden she would serve, boiled new potatoesflavored with fresh butter, bacon seasoned canned green beans, freshly shucked corn on the cob smothered in fresh butter, hotcornbread and a large glass of fresh cows milk from GrandpaPosey’s grade”C” dairy! Yummy! Then she would serve oneof her Fresh blackberrycobbler. She made the bestBlackberry cobblers ever! Her special touch was thelayer of crust she put in themiddle of those cobblers!

While she had no expensivefancy entrées on her table, which take hours of prepand have elaborate names,(which most of us can’tpronounce) I would have tosay, “What fine dining!”

My memories don’t includetheir very limited budget, orthe lack of a closet full ofthe latest designer clothes, nor the lack of latest stateof the art technology and video systems. She didn’t use aninterior designer to impress you with breath taking décorthroughout her home.

But I do remember: the hand knitted table coverings and thesimple picture frame she proudly displayed of hergrandchildren. The Whippoorwill’s song outside of that frontbedroom window where I slept covered by her flour sack, patchwork quilt which she pulled from neatest and mostorganized chest of drawers you will ever see. The simple cutdresses with the flower print aprons and the braided pigtails she
