History of Florida


Florida is a worker co-operative located in the Valencia Region (Spain). It was founded in the middle of the 1970’s, when a group of professionals with a vocation for education and training decided to start a cooperative initiative.

Nowadays we are a group of more than 200 professionals working in a campus (of 26,869 square metres) with 6 buildings and more than 3,500 students per year.

At FLORIDA we believe in people and their professional commitment, and this is why all the workers can participate and take decisions in their role as members of the co-operative.

Florida Universitària, which is affiliated to the University of Valencia and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, is a dynamic and innovative centre, which promotes the development of entrepreneurial attitudes among its students and the contact with business realities during the student’s education, with the objective of facilitating their integration into the professional world.

The objective of the Florida campus is to generate opportunities that facilitate personal and professional growth.


Specific services

• Entrepreneurs area: support for business creation and organisation of activities to foster entrepreneurship.

• Careers advice and job-finding service, working with more than 4.000 companies. Since 2002, it is an Official Centre for Labour Arbitration, associated to the Employment Service of the Valencia Region (Servef).

• International relations to guarantee Florida’s presence at international forums, development of transnational projects and the integration of the European view in every activity.

- ICT-SUSTOUR: "Sustainable Development in Tourism through ICT in Education" Sócrates – Minerva. The objective of this project was to develop innovative educational tools and resources based on the use of new technologies that favourite the integration of environmentally activities and contents and a focus on sustainable development in tourism studies (01/10/2004 - 01/10/2006)

Experiences in the field of Tourism


- WLT – "Work & Learn Together: development of innovate e-learning in the workplace of SMEs"The objective of this project was to develop and maintain practice communities between SMEs in the tourist sector, to facilitate and support the continuous learning processes of workers and managers in the workplace (01/10/2005 - 30/09/2007)

- FORESTUR - "Tailored training for professionals in the rural tourist sector“ Through this project, tourist professionals operating in rural areas will benefit from high quality continuous training, adapted to their needs and made possible through the use of online resources. (01/10/2006 - 30/09/2008)



-ILIS: “Innovations and Learning in SPA Management“ The objective of this project is to analise the training needs of the SPAs professionals and design a training program to promote the management innovation.

- FORTE: “Fostering Responsible Tourism in European Higher Education“ The main objective is to create a team of professors, students and experts that acquire and share knowledge on Responsible Tourism. Each partner will contribute to the project with its field of expertise: Sustainability, Accessibility, Local Development and Corporate Social Responsibility (01/10/2008 - 30/09/2009)
