New Records Set For Participation In 2011 For Immediate Release: September 20, 2011 Contact: Brad Kimmel, Executive Director (260) 437-7422 (Fort Wayne, IN) – The official registration numbers are in, and with the Fort4Fitness Health Festival scheduled to open on Friday at Parkview Field (1pm – 9pm), we are once again looking at record participation in the Fort4Fitness events in 2011. 9,453 people are registered to take part in at least one of this year’s 5 events, the Half Marathon, 10K, 4 Mile Run/Walk, Kids Marathon, or Seniors Marathon. “It has been exciting to watch this event grow in our first four years,” said Dave Craker, Race Director, “but the more exciting thing to see has been the change in people’s lives by taking steps towards a healthy lifestyle through running or walking, and we’re honored that they’ve chosen to be a part of our event to show everyone their commitment to healthy living.” With 30 States and 3 countries (USA, Great Britain, South Africa) represented, this year’s events will truly have an international flavor. The newest addition to Fort4Fitness for 2011 is the 10K Run/Walk, an intermediate distance intended to give participants an additional challenge, in case they’re not quite ready to step up to the Half Marathon. Also this year, the Half Marathon was named the Indiana State Championship Race by the Road Runner’s Club of America. As with any large event, there will be a significant number of road closures surrounding the race course on Friday and Saturday. A complete listing of the road closures is attached to this press release, and also published on www.Fort4Fitness.org . Several other items are attached to this release as well, including a Schedule of Events, a “Fast Facts” sheet about the history of F4F, Course and parking maps, Food options offered at the Health Festival, and a layout of Parkview Field with a list of participating vendors.
