EMPLOYMENT / EDUCATIONThe SW FL MSA has an extremely healthy business environment featuring low business costs and a cur-rent unemployment rate of 4.3%.

The Hertz Corporation, the largest rental car com-pany in the U.S., relocated its International Head-quarters 4.9 miles south of GCTC in 2016.

Chico’s is based in Ft. Myer’s, and recently expanded its Headquarters and added 150 new jobs. Florida Gulf Coast University (“FGCU”) has 14,600 students and 1300 staff members and is 1 mile south of the property. FGCU is the fastest growing university in the Southern U.S. and is projected to grow to 24,000 students within the next 10 years.

TOURISM DRAWLee County hosted an estimated 4.9 million visitors in 2015, representing significant tourist and seasonal traffic not otherwise captured in demographic data.

The population of the surrounding area increases by as much as 33% above listed demographics between November and April.
