2300 Ellesmere Road, Scarborough, Ontario, M1G 3M7 Dear Parent/Guardian, Hello everyone...its the second month already and the weather has begun to turn. October is one of my favourite months, not least because the trees are rapidly turning to orange and gold and it is much cooler. Can I ask that as the temperature has dropped, I would once again ask that you ensure your child is appropriately dressed, particularly when it is cold and wet. Equally, can I empha- size that students need to be picked up promptly at 3:00pm as they cannot be safely supervised after this period. Please remember our Halloween fundraiser, Turkey lunch, Thanksgiving Mass, picture day, pizza lunch, virtue of the month assembly and waste reduction week”...quite a busy month...Phew! Lots going on and lots to be grateful for. This has been a great start to the year and I really enjoyed meeting everyone at the Meet the Teacher Night. Look out for more specific information about each activity as the month goes on and please try to join us on Twitter @stthomasmoreces for more regular updates. Please remember, we continue to ask parent not to walk their children to their classes at the beginning of the day. We must continue to work against normalising unfamiliar adults in our hall- ways. The virtue of the month for October is “Gratitude”…

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another

in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and

spiritual songs to God.” (Colossians 3:16)

The STM CSPC is excited to welcome all students and parents to another great year! We all have a vital role to play in our children's education and our goal is to work in partnership with the entire STM community. The new board was elected, the roles are as follow: Chair: Ms. Heather Krzewski, Treasurer and Fundraiser: Ms. Sandy Ewart. We look forward to seeing you in the upcoming events!

NEXT PARENT COUNCIL is on October 25th @ 6pm to 7pm.

Our annual Thanksgiving school Mass and Tur-key lunch is on October 19th. If you can con-tribute by either providing a frozen turkey or better still cooking a frozen turkey please con-tact the school. It’s a great tradition and any help will continue to ensure our students break bread together as a school community.

To sustain our level of pro-graming, every year we need to run our Halloween dancea-thon. Please contribute gener-ously as all monies go to im-prove the experience of stu-dents at St. Thomas More

CES.
