I. Introduction
If there is one thing that would unite all Filipinos, it is certainly not a politician, a hero or
a great man, but something everyone love and would fight for --- FOOD. And yet, there
are thousands of barangays or barrios in the Philippines that are vulnerable to hunger
and malnutrition according to the Department of Health and National Nutrition Council
(NNC). Filipino children’s eating habits has been changing as they eat more calories
and no longer eat vegetables. The influence of adult members has a lot to do with the
children’s changing eating habits. Children eat what the adult family members eat, say
by the NNC in a study.
Alarmed by the changing eating habits, the government together with the television and
radio programs in the Philippines joined force in campaigning for a higher consumption
of vegetables and to advocate locally produced nutritious food, specifically vegetables.
The survey indicated that children do not want to eat vegetables because it is not
“palatable” it gave motivation for the Queen She Company to create a product which is
not only healthy but tasty as well. Children are nuggets enthusiast, Queen She
Company decided to add a little twist in it. The company came up with Veggie Nuggets,
a combination of chicken and vegetables. Queen She Veggie Nuggets contains good
source of vitamins, calcium for strong bones, and protein for growth and provides
energy to the body.

G. Brief Description of the Project
Veggie Nuggets
“Life is good when you are eating a healthy food.”
This product provides a healthier twist of ordinary chicken nuggets.
This product contains vegetables that are rich in vitamins such as vitamins A, B and K
mixed with a small amount of chicken so as to allure the children to eat said product
without hesitating due to their perception that vegetables are not palatable. As studies
show, children today prefer meat over vegetables. This product will help parents
introduce vegetables to their children in an innovative manner and in such a way that
will ensure the approval of the latter.
This product development aims to attract the market through its original and inventive
approach of selling Vegetable Nuggets.
Veggie Nuggets aims to educate the consumers on the true understanding of good
nutrition, its lifelong benefits, and how it plays an important role in one's healthy, active
lifestyle. We make sure that our products are of uncompromising quality and easily
within reach.
Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
H. Market Feasibility
The survey conducted in preparation for this study manifested the feasibility of the
product. There are still more children who eat vegetables and are open in trying our
product rather than those who do not.
The company’s target market are parents with children ages 4-12 and members of
social classes C and D in four wet markets in Quezon City due to its high rate of
population and wide market potential.
The distribution sites were chosen due to its proximity in the production area and
number of residents in the Barangay where the wet market is located.

Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
J. Management Feasibility
The company believes that ineffective job assignments are one of the reasons of poor
employee performance that would eventually result to poor company performance.
Ineffective job assignments either lets an employee have a harder time in completing a
task or lets him exert less effort that would lead to inferior quality of work. Also, it causes
more stress and problems not only to the employees but also to the company.
With these, the firm shall hire employees based on their credentials and training
performance. Each shall be given a specific job assignment that would match his
knowledge and skills. In addition, all the partners will take charge in the business and its
affairs. Every partner shall render her services to the company. Each shall serve as a

IV. Marketing Aspect
Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
A. Market Study
Quezon City is a highly urbanized city and most populous city in NCR as well as in the
whole Philippines. Its total population as of 2009 is 2,307,637. All levels of social
classes can be found in this city. From very rich people who are CEOs of big companies
to squatters who are living in houses made of pieces of wood.
The following are the most populous barangays, to wit: Commonwealth (172,834),
Batasan Hills (148, 624), Payatas (117,001), Holy Spirit (106,038) and Pasong Tamo
(82, 340).
However, not all of these barangays will be covered for the company’s distribution due
to certain limitations inherent to a starting business. The following barangays are to be
covered by our distribution: Barangays Commonwealth, Culiat. New Era and Batasan
Hills. They were chosen due to their proximity to the company’s target market.
In the long run, the company will be able to successfully penetrate every wet market in
the city and in the whole country as well as supermarkets.
B. Research Methodology
Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
The descriptive survey research methodology was used as a framework in conducting
this business plan. This method explains the relationships of existing conditions and
other important variables to the proposed product and to this business plan as a whole.
The survey was answered by 100 respondents in Quezon City. Aside from the survey,
primary and secondary resources of data were used in completing this business plan.
C. Statistical Notes
The survey results show that:
62%, 10% and 22% of the respondents have their mother, father and both, respectively,
to decide for their menu.
63% said that they usually buy processed meat in wet markets rather than
supermarkets and grocery stores.
87% eat chicken nuggets.
61% are currently spending PhP 51.00-70.00 for a 250 gram-pack of chicken nuggets.
Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
35% buy chicken nuggets twice a month.
91% are willing to try.
58% are willing to spend PhP 30.00-51.00 for 250 grams (1 pack) of Veggie Nuggets.
Interpretation: Given this information, it can be presumed that parents still have the
final “say” or decision for the food to purchase. Consumers prefer buying processed
meat in wet markets which are more accessible than supermarkets and grocery stores.
A large percentage of the respondents eat chicken nuggets which means that the
company has to work hard to be able to get the consumer preference. The number of
respondents willing to try Veggie Nuggets is significantly high. This is a good start for
the business. The company will live up to the respondents’ price expectation for the
Veggie Nuggets.

Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
Queen She Co. has three (3) leading indirect competitors namely Purefoods, Magnolia
and CDO. Based from the survey conducted, Purefoods ranked first followed by
Magnolia and CDO being the last choice of most respondents.
Pure Foods is one of the food industry leaders in the Philippines in producing quality
meats which was expanded to poultry and livestock, dairy products, fresh and
processed meats, and agriculture. It ushered the new era of growth and market
leadership of the integrated businesses.
Through generations, Magnolia earned the people’s trust on the product quality and
service. The company provides the needs of the food service industry serving the large
share of the Philippines’ butter, margarine and cheese requirements.
After 30 years, CDO is forging ahead, blooming into a full-grown food manufacturing
company and making waves in the Philippine market. To date, CDO-Foodsphere's
product development and strategies have elevated its reputation to a household name.
H. Positioning Strategy
Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance Page 84
“Life is good when you are eating a healthy food.”
Filipinos are fond of saying “lahat ng bawal ay masarap.” They are always present when
it comes to celebrations like Christmas, birthdays, weddings, especially fiestas. The
occasion will not be complete without the presence of the divine roasted pig (lechon).
With its crispy skin and soft and delicious meat, even a young child will have a bite of
this while it is hot. And that is the sad part about it. Healthy eating habits should start
while young but how could it be possible if at an early age, Filipino children do not know
how to value their “health.”
The company positions itself as an advocate of good health because we want all the
Filipinos especially the children to know the goodness of the product and what good it
can do for their health just by hearing the tagline. Education on the nutritional content of
the food should start in the young. So, when they grow old, a healthy lifestyle will be
second nature to them. They know it already by heart.
