    Gatwick Racecourse, which was to the north of Forge Wood, hosted the Grand National during the First World War, from 1916-1918!

    The Location Forge Wood is a brand new district of Crawley, bringing much-needed new homes, community amenities, employment and services to the town. It features 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom homes, as well as a school, a community centre and acres of green, open space.

    Shopping and entertainment

    Crawley was one of the original designated New Towns, back in the 1940s,

    but it has a much nicer history than that, with Roman origins, as well as being

    known as a market town. Today it enjoys excellent communications links via road,

    rail and air. Located close to Gatwick Airport although not directly under the

    main flight path it is one of the fastest-growing towns in the South of England.

    Close at hand are the local shops and amenities in Tinsley Green and Copthorne.

    There are schools for all ages within 1 km: Fairway Infants, Milton Mount primary

    and Hazelwick secondary schools. Crawley itself has a large selection of

    supermarkets and shopping centres, as well as restaurants, bars, cinemas

    and entertainments, as well as sports and leisure facilities.

    In the beautiful surrounding countryside youll find places to visit and things

    to do for families of all ages. Tilgate Forest Country Park is perfect for picnics

    Transport

    Getting to work is simple from Forge Wood. Crawley town centre is just

    3 miles away, while Gatwick Airport one of the largest local employers

    is less than a mile away.

    For commuters to London, Gatwick train station offers services every

    few minutes to Victoria (journey time from 30 minutes) Blackfriars and

    London Bridge (from 46 minutes).

    By car, Forge Wood is less than a mile from Junction 10 of the M23 Motorway,

    which means you are around a 15 minute drive to the M25 Motorway (Junction 7).

    Central London is around 30 miles to the north, and the beach at Brighton is

    28 miles to the south.

    With Gatwick Airport so close at hand, domestic and international flights are

    always on hand for business and leisure trips.
