Dear Parents,We are a brand new 11-18 Academy with 1,120 students. Our conversion to Academy took place on 1 September 2014 when we formally became a member of the Tapton School Trust.
Our building is a new, purpose-built learning environment with excellent facilities to help us deliver our curriculum.
We aim to provide a personalised experience for each student, offering them every chance of success and the very best access to their chosen destinations at the end of Year 11 or 13.
High-quality teaching and learning are at the heart of everything we do. Strong classroom practice, combined with a relevant curriculum, rigorous tracking and monitoring of progress, commitment and positive behaviour from all our students as well as
consistent support from home ensure the best possible outcomes for all.
We have the highest expectations of all our students in every area of school life; our uniform and behaviour policies are strongly supported by students, parents and staff.
Our school is a caring and ordered community with an atmosphere of calm and purposeful learning. Students are treated as individuals and we recognise and celebrate their different abilities, aptitudes and interests.
We work very hard to ensure that every young person is happy, safe and successful – a credit to themselves, their family and to Forge Valley School.

Forge Valley School builds ambition in every student.We are an increasingly successful school where everyone is
given the opportunity to be the best they can, no matter what their starting point, background or ability.
Encouraging students to show respect for themselves and for everyone they meet is at the very core of our school. Older students support younger ones and our Sixth Formers are encouraged to act as role models and mentors.
Parents play a vital role in our school, supporting their children at events and activities as well as attending parents’ evenings. They receive annual reports, but we also monitor the progress of every student each term. We also keep parents informed via the website and text messages if necessary.
Our dedicated team of teachers and their departments are reviewed regularly so that we can be certain our students always get the best possible opportunities for success.
At Forge Valley School we encourage a spirit of endeavour in every student.
Our curriculum has breadth and depth. Most of our students study ten GCSE subjects in Year 10 and Year 11 and then move on to a wide range of A-levels in the Sixth Form. We also provide an additional range of vocational courses which give students a real insight into the world of work.
We feel that all our students should be
encouraged to embrace opportunities beyond the classroom. Our range of club activities, trips and visits enrich their lives and broaden their horizons.
We are very proud of our provision for youngsters with special needs: this includes our unit for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All our students are equally valuable to us at Forge Valley School and everyone can make outstanding progress.

The school has maintained a relentless focus on improving students’ achievement.
Forge Valley is a rapidly improving school.Our students’ first experience of Forge Valley School comes while
they are at primary school and we value our close links and partnerships with colleagues at Rivelin, Malin Bridge, Shooters Grove, Wisewood and Marlcliffe. We build on their success and ensure that young people have every opportunity to achieve at the highest level possible.
In 2014, 110 Year 11 students achieved 5 A* - C (including English and Maths).
Higher rates of attendance go hand in hand with high rates of achievement and both are monitored constantly so that students understand how well they are doing and what more they need to do to achieve the future they dream of.
Many of our students continue to study in our Sixth Form which, in turn, leads to further opportunities in work, training or universities throughout the country. When they come to the end of their time with us, Forge Valley School students leave with confidence and maturity, ready for the next stage of their lives.

Students are clear that this is a safe school and they much appreciate the range of topics they are taught to prepare them for life beyond school.
