Untitled-1celebrated with the theme “COMPASSION IN
PATIENT CARE”. Everyone was made to
understand that Compassion is a virtue and a
necessary trait that everyone working in the
Hospital should practice and follow. In simple
terms, being responsive to the care needs of patients
and giving them the feeling of emotional relief from
pain. The Hospital has already gained a good name
in the locality for being compassionate for which the
staff were congratulated. The Doctors and staff of
Gayathri Hospital took an oath of maintaining
compassion to the patients by all means.
The period we are now crossing through is very
challenging with Covid-19 taking a heavy toll on
lives everyday. Now is the time for all of us to be
compassionate and help each other to overcome the
malady. Let us all take a vow to join the league of
compassion to keep this world ever smiling.
Wear face mask & keep social distance for a safe and
corona free life for all.
I thank everyone for the support being extended to
Udavum Karangal.
“Compassion” is a very simple term but that has a
profound meaning both in terms of thought and
action. As we all know compassion means to “suffer
together”, to be more specific “to feel others’
suffering and work towards relieving them of that
suffering”.
I take pride in saying that the very premise under
which Udavum Karnagal was started was
“Compassion”. Almost 24 years back, in 1997, Smt.
Padmavathi, (in the poster above) who was herself a
senior citizen aged 64 years knocked the doors of
Udavum Karangal with a just born baby seeking
shelter for the infant. She said that she was from
Kerala and her daughter died while delivering the
baby. She had none to take care and so she too
wanted to die after finding a safe place for her
grandson. Her grandson was admitted along with
her. She now thrives to live with all motivation as she
was conquered by “Compassion” at Udavum
Karangal. Her grandson is now a grown up boy who
lives on his own and now she has become Padma
Patti, at 88 years, to all the children at our Home. This
is the wonder that Compassion is capable of –
turning misery to bliss.
