Through deposition, rivers can create new land. Sandy beaches are an example of deposition. Wearing away Earths surface Mechanical and chemical weathering are two kinds of weathering. Weathering is a big part in creating soil. Erosion is a process in which ice, water, or wind remove small pieces of rock. Erosion also helps create soil. Chemical weathering is when acid rain and rain break down rocks. Shaping Landforms Mountains and hills are examples of weathering. A plateau is an example of a mountain. A valley is an example of a hill. Appalachians were worn down by weathering. Forces inside Earth Plate tectonics states that Earths crust is made of plates. Plates are made up of continents and the ocean floor. Under the crust is magma. Magma is molten hot rock. Earthquakes and Volcanoes Earthquakes are massive shakes in the ground. Earthquakes usually occur at a fault Magma shoots out of volcanoes after the faults shift. Volcanoes' have pros and cons Works Cited "PlanetSave - Global Warming News, Science News, Animal News, Green Living." PlanetSave. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Sept "E List." E List. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Sept
