Friction
• Friction is a force that opposes the motion of objects that touch as they move past each other
There are 4 main types of friction each with there own set of Characteristics
Types of Friction 1
• Static Friction• The friction force that
acts on objects that are not moving
Types of Friction 2
• Sliding Friction• A force that opposes
the direction of motion of an object as it slides over a surface
Types of Friction 3
• Rolling Friction• The friction force that acts on rolling objects
Types of Friction 4
• Fluid Friction• Friction force that opposes the motion of objects
through fluids such as water, air, and liquids
Gravity
• Gravity is a force that acts between two masses
• Earths gravity acts downward
Falling objects
• Gravity causes objects to accelerate downward, whereas air resistance acts in the direction to the motion and reduces acceleration
